Thesis Title:
Production optimization of artificial lift oil wells in Rimelan Field
Keywords: Production Optimization, Artificial Lift, Oil Wells, Operating Conditions

1
Introduction and Statement of Problem:
- Production optimization refers to how to maximize the production rate with
minimizing the operating cost and environmental problems.

- The Types of artificial lift :

Sucker rod pump.

Electrical Submersible [ESP ] pump.

Gas lift .

Significance of the study:

- Increasing the production with the available tools with the minimum cost.
- Improvement of ESP pump work using PIPESIM Software.
- This study save time and money.
Aims of research:
- Development of ESP pump work for Rimelan field to optimize the production
rate using PIPESIM Software.
- Determine the optimum operating conditions for ESP pump to minimize the ESP
problems and increased the production rate.
-Study the effect of the ESP pump frequency and well head pressure to determine
the optimum operating conditions for the well.

Research Questions and Hypotheses:

- What are the methods of production in general?
- How can we optimize the artificial lift oil wells?

2
- How can we classify the Rimelan field crude oil?
- What is the economic return of production optimization in Rimelan field?
Methodology
- Reviewing the literature of the artificial lift method and selection.
- Reviewing the literature of the production optimization methods.
Rimelan Field description.
- Studying the effect of operating conditions on production optimization using
PIPESIM Software.
- Draw the ESP pump work on PIPESIME Software.
- Apply Nodal Analysis method to get the optimum flow rate and working
pressure.
Innovation aspect (novelty) of the research:
This is the first study research for optimizing the artificial lift performance using
PIPESIM Software for Rimelan field.
