We use these two articles to indicate whether a noun is in singular form.

We don’t use a/an before an uncountable noun.


We use “a” before a noun
(person/place/thing) which
starts with a consonant
sound.
We use “an” before a noun
(person/place/thing) which
starts with a vowel sound.
