In your opinion, what can social media platforms do to help prevent racism
in football?

Racism is not term we are unaware of. It has been around for centuries and can
be seen in almost every section of life including sports. With football being no
exception, racism has made its way into the game and many players are facing
racist comments from people on social media. I think that social media
platforms should do reforms in order to tackle this serious social issue.
We are living in the era of internet where almost everyone has access to social
media platform this made thing even worst because it makes it easy for people
to spread negativity. Unfortunately, racism is not just limited to online activity,
but it also has its roots in our society. Almost after every football match, we see
many racist comments made against many players and while the social media
platform seams to condemn these acts, we still see such comments made on
daily basis. The comment section is flooded with hate speech and racist
comments on the players, feed and this need to be addressed appropriately as it
is an issue which is growing day by day.
In my opinion, the simple deletion of such comments is not the only way to
reduce this case. I think social media platform like twitter, Facebook, Instagram
etc. should be strict and have better software to detect such hate comments so
that the users can be banned from using platforms. Moreover, after banning
them, that data should be shared with the law enforcement authorities so that
proper legal action can be taken against them. Cyber crime department can be
really helpful in tracking down such user how promote hate speech on social
media platform.
To put it in a nutshell, I believe that this is serious social issue and needs to me
addressed seriously and strictly and culprits should be punished not just in the
form of online ban, but also facing charges for their actions so it can be a lesson
not only for them but others as well.
