SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
“development that meets the needs of the present without
compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own
needs” - UN SDG definition
For sustainable development to happen, these three core elements
must be harmonized:
economic growth
social inclusion
environmental protection

GREEN ARCHITECTURE
also known as Sustainable Architecture
an approach to building design that prioritizes environmentally
responsible and resource-efficient practices
encompasses various strategies, technologies, and design principles to
reduce energy consumption, conserve natural resources, improve indoor
air quality, and minimize waste
Some buildings that are examples of Green Architecture are:
The Crystal in London by WilkinsonEyre
Bahrain World Trade Center by Atkins
The Edge in Netherlands by PLP Architecture

GREEN ARCHITECTURE
with Green Architecture you are introduced to the following concepts:
Net Zero Building: a highly energy efficient building where your
building consumes energy as much as it produces, creating a net
zero energy consumption
Renewable Energy: use of energy sources that are not dependent
on fossil fuels such as solar energy and wind energy
Biophilic Design: the use of nature elements in a building such as
natural daylight, plants, water, and natural materials to improve the
well-being, productivity, and over all quality of life of building users

SMART BUILDINGS OR
INTELLIGENT BUILDINGS
structures that incorporate advanced technology and automation
systems to enhance the efficiency, comfort, security, and overall
functionality of the building for its occupants
technologies are interconnected and managed through
centralized control systems, often using the Internet of Things
(IoT) and data analytics to optimize the building's operations and
energy usage can range from residential homes to commercial
offices, hospitals, educational institutions, and more

HYBRID ARCHITECTURE
refers to an approach that combines elements and features from
multiple architectural styles, design philosophies, or construction
methods within a single structure
can result in unique and innovative architectural compositions that
blend different aesthetics, functions, and construction techniques
