Rituals and rites of passage are two examples of how culture affects how people act and behave.

2. In current United State society day care is one of the agents of socialization. Were you ever in a
day care program? If so, do you recall the experience as good or bad? In general, do you think it
desirable to expose young children to the socializing influence of day care? Should the costs of day
care programs be paid by the government, by private sector, or entirely by parents?

Yes, that was excellent.Because not every parent can afford child care, I do believe it depends on
the parents. I believe that when kids are able to assist themselves, the government should step in
and assist the parents.

3. Describe the ways in which media and technology impact youth in the United States.
Social media are extremely influential. Not all of the influence is positive; it is primarily
negative. Little children should not be exposed to things that they are not ready for. Children and
teenagers should be kept in check because they help people realize that not everyone intends to
act foolishly, thus extreme caution must be taken. On the other side, it teaches them and takes
them to new locations. Social media usage is just as important as the content itself.

4. Look at the bar graph in you textbook 4-3 Teens Controlling Access to their Social Media and
answer the following question:

Were you surprised at how many teens restrict their social media posts, or how few? Explain
your answer.

My mother set limits on how much time I could spend on social media, therefore I do believe
that's the case.

Have you ever restricted access to your social media posts by your parents or anyone else?
why or why not?

Yes, when I was younger I wasn't permitted to have a Facebook account until I reached a certain
age, so I made my own, and I believe it was for the better because there was a lot of predators on
Facebook.
