Subject Line: How to draw cloud with pencil Testing

Dear. Content Director,

Today, we had three testers read the "how to draw cloud with pencil" instructions and
performed the usability test. We had three different male and female testers perform as
described in the instructions, and all but one were able to draw clouds without any
problems. They said it was very enjoyable as a tester and that the photos and clear
explanations were easy to understand. However, there were a few caveats to note.

• In step 5, "use an eraser to erase the upper part of the cloud by drawing a circle"
is confusing.
• In step 5, change to “Erase while slowly spreading the soft ice cream in a small
circle from top to bottom with awareness of the soft ice cream.”
• The pictures are too light, so make it darker, or use a scanned picture.
• We should be careful how we phrase things.
• Should add a note on drawing clouds.

Once the above information has been changed correctly and accurately, we will conduct
the usability test again with the updated information and report the results as soon as
they are available.

Thank you for your time,

Hello everyone! I am writing this to inform you about the results of our usability testing
for How to Draw Cloud with Pencil. I would also like to request approval for some
changes to the instruction manual after the tests we conducted. On Tuesday, October 3,
three testers were given step-by-step instructions for the usability test. After the testers
had run the test, they provided us with some improvements and useful feedback.

Summary
Overall, the tester was confused by the process of drawing clouds while erasing them
with an eraser in Step 5. Therefore, we added a few sentences to help them understand
the explanation without more confusion. Erase the instructional section, as it is written
quite broadly. Instead of using a single word, such as "soft serve ice cream,"
"mountain," "triangular cone," or some other familiar and easy-to-understand shape, the
instructions should be easy to understand. The "soft ice cream," "mountain," "triangular
cone," and so on. Other notes should be made on the execution of the instruction. For
example, pencils should be well sharpened, and the sky should be thinned from top to
bottom for a more realistic drawing. It would be better to write such notes as "The sky
should be thinned from the top to the bottom for more realistic drawing.

Results
During the useability test, we had some issues. And we have to think about how to
change and solve this problem.

Problems arising from the results

Two testers spoke of images as a factor that makes this instruction particularly easy to
understand. However, they noted that part 5's image is a little hard to see in some areas
and needs to be drawn darkened a bit more all images. and I concluded that the photo
should be processed or scanned at this time. Also, all of the testers' part 5 drawing
instructions did not draw the way I thought they would. I wrote, “Use an eraser to erase
the upper part of the cloud by drawing a circle.”, but they didn’t understand clearly even
though there was an image. I had intended to write they draw many small circle and
erase the darker place with the eraser, but they didn't understand where should draw
circle, how big or small, and how high pressure or low pressure.

What do we have to do for solve this

We have to understand and think about what improvement points on the above, and then
we the image also have to explicitly to change to write arrow or What kind of
movement will it have in the images. It is necessary to change the wording and clarify
the instructions on how to "erase while drawing a circle" on also the image. The
wording needs to be clear and detailed, not rough, such as where to draw from, how
much pressure to apply, how large a circle to draw, and how to draw it in motion.
Specifically, change the text in difficult areas, or write a note after the explanation. For
example, "A more realistic look can be achieved by using a light gradation from the top
and a dark gradation from the bottom," or "When erasing circles, erase many small ones
to give the image of fluffy clouds. For example, "A darker gradient from the top to the
bottom makes it look more realistic.

Conclusion
We have taken the results of our usability analysis and have used them to modify the
How to Draw Cloud with Pencil. This includes the addition of the Step 5 explanation
and promotion to comprehension, as well as edits to indicate changes in wording.
Therefore, any additional items that should be noted or would be better in executing the
instruction.

Recommendation
We recommend that the following be added to the future instructions.
• It is very easy to explain in a simple way, and it is a form that people can easily
see, but on the other hand, there are times when the explanation is not enough
and people do not understand. So use clear wording, for example, “Erase by
drawing many circles at the top.”
• In step 5, they may not be able to understand only words, so it is good to draw
the red auxiliary line on the picture.
• Clear and easy to understand the photos at each step.
• Notes and things to do will be added before instruction begins.
