New M&D BOARDS Have Reversed Logic for Some TEST POINTS
Issue 28, September 20, 1996
A new vendor is manufacturing the M&D BOARDS for the Vitros 250 Chemistry System. The new BOARDS are
fully interchangeable with the existing M&D BOARDS, except for the following reversed logic in the TEST
POINTS for DC MOTORS:
• drive signals
• rotation direction
The TEST POINTS for the following DC MOTORS are different on the old and the new M&D BOARDS:
CARTRIDGE LOAD DOOR, TP27 and TP28 on M&D BOARD No. 1
CARTRIDGE UNLOAD DOOR, TP29 and TP30 on M&D BOARD No. 1
ELECTROMETER CONTACTS, TP27 and TP28 on M&D BOARD No. 2
DILUENT SUPPLY - EVAPORATION COVER, TP27 and TP28 on M&D BOARD No. 4
When you are troubleshooting malfunctions for these MOTORS, first check the part No. for the M&D BOARD.
Then use the following table to determine the correct results for the TEST POINTS.
Note
TEST POINTS TP27 and TP28 are not used on M&D BOARD No. 3.
TEST POINTS TP29 and TP30 are not used on M& D BOARDS, Nos. 2, 3, and 4.

RATE DRIVER BOARD
Issue No. 29, September 30, 1997
The RATE DRIVER BOARD on the 250 and 950 Chemistry Systems has an incorrect silk-screened value for the
fuse. The fuse used on the BOARD is a 1 amp fuse, shown correctly in the parts list. However, the silkscreen on the
BOARD indicates a 3.15 amp. If you replace the fuse without checking the part number, the wrong fuse will be
installed and damage to the BOARD may result. In the future, a label will be applied to the BOARD over the
silkscreen to prevent this from occurring.

M&D BOARD Substitutions
Issue No. 30, December 29, 1997
Because the stock level of M&D BOARDS is low, you may need to substitute one BOARD for another or pull from
your own stock.
For example, when M&D BOARD #1 is out of stock, M&D BOARD #2 will be shipped in its place. The U34
configuration PAL from the original M&D #1 can be installed on the new M&D #2, making it compatible. If the PAL
is damaged during the transfer, order a new one from Central Warehouse.

Configuration PAL - U34 Part No.

M&D #1 994746
M&D #2 354849
M&D #3 999277
M&D #4 994731
The low level stock situation is temporary. The new style M&D BOARDS will be available by early 2Q98 and the
M&D BOARDS will be fully compatible, but will require version 6.0 software.
