1. GENERAL
1.1. Design Philosophy
The structure is analyzed in elastic conditions using a direct stiffness method and also the
structure is modeled as a 3-dimensional structure. Structures are designed in ultimate condition
by using boundary strength design methods and using capacity design philosophy. And for the
calculation of earthquake neglected because of insufficient data. Anchor and foundation
calculated by excel formula.

2. LOADING DATA
The loads on the design of steel structures can consist of dead loads. Life Load. Wind loads and
Combination Loads. The loads planned to work in the structure depend on the function of space,
location, shape of the height of the structure itself. The types of loads used in calculating steel
structures are Dead Load (DL), Wind Load (W) and Combination Load (C)
2.1. Dead Load (DL)
The dead loads are calculated from the member sizes and estimated material densities.

3. WIND LOAD (W)

Wind is a mass of air that moves in a mostly horizontal direction from an area of high pressure to
an area with low pressure.[1] High winds can be very destructive because they generate pressure
against the surface of a structure. The intensity of this pressure is the wind load. The effect of the
wind is dependent upon the size and shape of the structure. Calculating wind load is necessary for
the design and construction of safer, more wind-resistant buildings and placement of objects such
as antennas on top of buildings.
Irrespective of the procedure used to determine wind loads for buildings or structures, it is
necessary to determine velocity pressure, q. Velocity pressure depends on wind speed,
surrounding terrain including topography, and probabilities of directionality and occurrence of wind
speed. In the Standard, the equation for velocity pressure q is given as
𝑞 = 0.00256 𝐾𝑧 𝐾𝑧 𝑡 𝐾𝑑 𝑉 2 (𝑙𝑏⁄𝑓𝑡 2 )

Where :
𝑞 = effective velocity pressure to be used in the appropriate equations to evaluate wind
pressures for MWFRS and C&C; qz at any height, z, above ground; qh is based on Kh at
mean roof height, h
𝐾𝑧 = exposure velocity pressure coefficient, which reflects change in wind speed with height and
terrain roughness (see Section 26.7)
𝐾𝑧 𝑡 = topographic factor that accounts for wind speed-up over hills and escarpments (see Section
26.8.2 and Fig. 26.8-1)
𝐾𝑑 = directionality factor (see Section 26.6 and Table 26.6-1)
𝑉 = basic wind speed, which is the 3-s gust speed at 33 ft above ground for Exposure Category
C and is associated with an annual probability appropriate for the risk category related to
building use

4. EARTHQUAKE CALCULATION (EARTHQUAKE SNI 1726: 2012)

4.1. General
Indonesia is included in a region that is very prone to earthquakes such as Japan and California
because of its geographical position occupying a very active tectonic zone. Since the issuance
of this regulation, several major earthquakes have been recorded in the past 6 years, such as
the 2004 earthquake and tsunami (Mw = 9.2), the Nias Earthquake in 2005 (Mw = 8.7), Yogya
earthquake in 2006 (Mw = 6.3), and the last Padang earthquake in 2009 (Mw = 7.6). These
earthquakes caused thousands of casualties, collapsed and damaged thousands of
infrastructures, and trillions of rupiah in funds for rehabilitation and reconstruction. Prevention of
damage caused by soil movements can be carried out through a good planning and construction
process and by taking into account a planned level of earthquake load. So that in planning
earthquake resistant infrastructure, it is necessary to know the earthquake load plan that can be
obtained based on the earthquake hazard map of Indonesia.
Indonesia first had an earthquake hazard map in 1983, namely in the Indonesian Earthquake
Resistant Planning Regulations for Buildings (PPTI-UG 1983). This earthquake map divides
Indonesia into six earthquake zones. The 1983 PPTI-UG was updated in 2002 with the issuance
of the Earthquake Resilience Planning Procedure for Building Buildings SNI 03-1726-2002. This
surrogate regulation is compiled with reference to UBC 1997. The earthquake map contained in
SNI 2002 is a Peak Ground Acceleration (PGA) on bedrock (SB) for a probability of exceeding
10% in a building service period of 50 years or in accordance with the period repeated 500 year
earthquake. Planning standards are generally updated to accommodate the development of
science and technology and the latest earthquake event data. With the occurrence of large
earthquakes such as the Aceh earthquake in 2004, it is appropriate for the existing earthquake
map to be revised. Using a probability approach, the Team has produced a PGA map and
acceleration spectra for a short period (0.2 seconds) and a period of 1.0 seconds with a
probability of exceeding 10% in 50 years, 10% in 100 years and 2% in 50 years or representing
three levels hazard (potential danger) of earthquakes, namely 500, 1000 and 2500 years. The

results of the analysis of each earthquake hazard level are displayed in the form of contours.
This 2010 Indonesian Earthquake Map is used as a basic reference for planning and designing
earthquake-resistant infrastructure including replacements for earthquake maps in the
Indonesian Earthquake Resilience Planning Standard (SNI-03-1726-2012).

• For earthquake design planning, building risk categories use risk categories 1

• For the priority factor (I) used = 1

4.3. Determining the Value of Ss and S1

To determine the value of Ss and S1 by looking at the 2012 earthquake hazard map by covering
the peak acceleration map (PGA) and the acceleration spectral response in the bedrock (SB) for
the 0.2 second short period (Ss) and for the 1.0 second period (S1) with attenuation 5%
represents three levels of earthquake hazard namely 500, 1000 and 2500 years or has a
probability of exceeding 10% in 50 years, 10% in 100 years, and 2% in 50 years. The definition
of SB bedrock is a subsurface rock layer that has a shear wave propagation velocity (Vs) reaching
750 m / s and no other rock layers below it that have a shear wave propagation value that is less
than that. Thus for a review location, PGA, SS, and S1 in the bedrock needed for planning can
be obtained.

4.5. Determine the site class for seismic design

Site classification provides an explanation of the procedure for classifying a site to provide
seismic design criteria in the form of amplification factors in a building. In the formulation of
seismic design criteria for a building on the surface of the ground or determination of the
amplification of the magnitude of the earthquake acceleration peak from bedrock to the ground
for a site. Enclosed table 3 regarding the site class seismic design.

determined based on the 2012 Earthquake Hazard Map, then plotted it into the Fa table that
has been attached. Ss value that has been determined is 0,693 (see page above) then the Fa
value is equal to 1.2 (by interpolation).

4.7. Determination of Value of SDS and SD1

In article 6.3 SNI Gempa 2012 Parameters for Acceleration of spectral design for short periods
SDS and SD1, must be determined through the following formulation:

We can find SMs and SM1:

𝑆𝑀𝑆 = 1.2 × 0.693

= 0.8316
𝑆𝑀1 = 1.8 × 0.3
= 5.4
