EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION

• Subroto Bagchi was born in Kolkata,
India, in 1957. He grew up in a
middle-class family and was the
youngest of three siblings.
• From a young age, he showed a keen
interest in reading and learning new
things. He was always curious about
the world around him and had a thirst
for knowledge.
• Bagchi completed his schooling from
St. Xavier's Collegiate School in
Kolkata. He then went on to pursue a
degree in English Literature from the
University of Calcutta.
CAREER BEGINNINGS
• After completing his graduation, he joined the advertising industry and
worked with companies such as Clarion and Rediffusion.
• In 1981, Bagchi joined Wipro, a small IT company at the time, as a
management trainee.
• Over the years, he worked his way up the ranks and became the CEO of
the company in 1991.
• Under his leadership, Wipro grew from a small company with a few
hundred employees to a global IT powerhouse with over 160,000
employees.

• He comes from a family of
educators and grew up with a
strong emphasis on learning and
education. His father was a
professor of English literature and
instilled in him a love of reading
and writing.
• Bagchi's family was also a source of

successful doctor who showed him

Founding Mindtree:
Subroto Bagchi was a co-founder of Mindtree, a
global technology consulting and services
company. He played a key role in establishing
the company's vision and strategy, and helped
build it into a successful organization with a
strong reputation in the industry.
