Sequencing and Some students reading and writing skills are weak, so they will need

activity focused, and writing accompanied by art.

TIMING AND SEQUENCING /
KEY PROMPTS & INSTRUCTIONS
Hook (5 min) Light traveling in a straight line experiment with lining up cardboard
cut outs.
Sunlight reflection Talk about the principle behind Inuit snow goggles, based off
and snow- 5 min reflection, and how light moves.
Inuit glasses- TS Discuss how Inuit glasses work to block the light reflecting off the

Building you own 1. Place students in partners. Put some of the students who like to
goggles fool around with an adult.
2. Have the students use a ruler to measure their partners face from
15 min the edge of their left eye to the edge of their right eye.
3. With this measurement, have the students draw a square on
cardboard that has the same length, and is approximately 8cm tall.
4. Have students cut out a groove for their noses in the middle. They
may need their partners help to put a dot where their nose will fit.
5. Have students punch two holes on either edge of the cut out
piece, and tie an elastic into these holes to act as a head band.
6. When they are done, have them bring their glasses to an adult
who will cut out the narrow slits for their eyes using an box cutter.
Activity Hide 20-30 bean bags (or wrapped candies- go to bulk barn) around
15 min the park outside. Have the students (carefully- no running) go and try
to find them all with their glasses on.
