Description
In this practice exercise, you will calculate the total weight of steel framing in tons. You will then
color in red any weight greater than 0.25 ton.

Exercise Solution
1. From the dataset, open the Revit model Practice Exercise 4b.rtf.

2. In the View ribbon, click Schedules and choose Schedule/Quantities to create a new schedule.

a. In the New Schedule dialog, Category section, choose Structural Framing.

b. Add the following fields:

c. Filter out any beam that is not made of steel using the Filter tab.

Click Ok to check the schedule.

3. Now add a new calculated parameter.
a. In the Schedule Properties dialog, Fields tab, click Add Calculated Parameter.

b. Create the formula for the new calculated parameter.

c. In the Sorting/Grouping tab, select Grand Totals.

d. In the Formatting tab, ensure that Weight is selected and the calculation option is set
to Calculated totals.

Click Ok and check the schedule.

4. Now edit the formatting of the Weight parameter.
a. In the Formatting tab, click Field Format and change the number of decimal places to
2.

b. In the Conditional Formatting dialog, create a rule to color weights greater than 0.25
tons in red.
