SAMR Group Project

Basis: math class in general

Substitution:
● Graphing calculators
● Using websites such as ixl and math xl for practice
Augmentation:
● Using websites such as mathway and desmos to show you how to do a problem
● Math tests online
Modification:
● Teacher upload videos of math notes taken in class for kids to rewatch
● Put students in groups and have them teach class the assignment – make a google
slide and present
Redefinition:
● Watch youtube videos for assignments that students don’t understand
● Have each student make their own video explaining a math concept and showing an
example of it

Five Critical Questions About Tech

● Students making their own video sharing a math concept and showing an example of
it
What does society give up for the benefits of this technology
● Privacy with posting the videos
● Human interaction
Who is harmed and who benefits from this technology
● Students benefit by learning the information but are harmed due to lack of human
interaction
● Teachers benefit – easier way to assess each individual student
● Students who don’t have access to technology at home are harmed due to lack of
opportunities
What does this technology need
● A recording device and microphone
● Internet access
● Platform to share the final video on
What are the unintended or unexpected changes caused by this technology
● Lack of social skills in students – students more comfortable alone than working with
others
● Increase screen time
● Positive change – many chances for creativity and student to express themselves

Why is it difficult to imagine our world without technology

● We are all growing up with it in our pocket
● Such a huge part of education and classes
● The world is so advanced so we must try and keep up in our classrooms, so our
students know how to work the newest technology
● Gives instant information and access to many things
