Executive Summary
In tThis white paper will I'll be discussing global warming and the technology used to solve this
problem. We It is a deep dive into the way technology has changed, the effect global warming
has on the our oceans and the world as a whole and what is being done to fix this issue; how
pollution in the our seas have affected the wildlife and how it also affects global warming, and
how we can take something like plastic pollution can be taken and changed for the better.and
make a change for the better. We can use what we Everything that is learned through this
discussion can be used learn here to influence others to do their part and do what they can to
reduce pollution and global warming. Pollution isn't usually something that is on the forefront of
discussion nor has it been historically. we think about in our everyday lives or in our history of
living here on Earth. Although this may be the case, we don’t typically think about it, pollution
has always existed been here and keeps getting worse by the day. We only have one earth to
live on; we need to protect the people and wildlife living on it.There is only one Earth, and it
must be protected.

Damage to our Oceans

The sea makes up about 70% of the Earth. The climate and weather are a big piece of the
ocean and the ocean is a big controlling factor of the global weather scale. The sea holds food
and wildlife all the way to be able to transport goods to other countries and to be able to get
imports. The sea is a massive factor in our lives that we never think about or grasp. As global
temperatures rise, the ocean is affected dramatically. The surface temperature can change, and
large storms can occur. When these large storms and hurricanes occur, the high winds and
sudden weather changes can be catastrophic and deadly. The damage has already been
significant damage done to our oceans because of global warming. Stabilizing greenhouse gas
levels is a profitable solution, but the damage may have already been done and would likely still
face humanity us for generations to come. Most people consider global warming to be all in the
air but they found that it significantly cuts the cost of fighting the problem of global warming and
is very effective to protect our seas. This greenhouse gas stabilization effort is not only cost
effective but also effective in protecting the seas.
The shipping industry carries around 80% of the world's trade by using the ocean as
transportation. is responsible for around 80% of the world’s trade, using the ocean as a
highway. The emissions that the shipping industry causes only serve to harm what progress is
being made to combat global warming. Offshore fossil fuels are another massive contribution to
global warming. Even simple things such as driving cars can harm the oceans and contribute to
climate change. Ocean exploration technology began with the HMS Challenger in 1872. This
voyage was is the first to collect data and explore the ocean. Exploration technology made large
advancements during World War II due to the development of submarines used for warfare.
4
Today, this technology of sonar, remote operated vehicles, and water quality factors has
enhanced the our study and understanding of the ocean. The U.S Senate Committee of Science
use this technology to protect endangered species in the ocean and give animal's new habitats,
as well as helping conservation efforts. It is also being used to solve problems with the ocean
and climate.

Technology to Protect our Oceans

Only 5% of the sea has been explored. The new tools and technologies are providing
oceanographers with new opportunities of exploration and the ability to see previously unseen
parts of the ocean. All of this is being done using remote sensing and satellite communication to
connect information in real time. Ocean exploration is evolving, with safety being top priority.
As ocean exploration increases and technology advances,so does the our understanding of the
way the ocean functions and supports life on earth. Now these oceanographers can go deeper
and farther than ever before. Technology has taken a massive role in helping to solve problems
the ocean has been facing.“The MIT report describes a two-step “electrochemical” process that
draws CO2 out of the seawater. The first step uses electricity to temporarily acidify the water,
which encourages the removal of CO2. A second step removes the acidity and collects the
CO2”(Scientific American). This process helps clean the our oceans in order to deacidify the
water. Another new technology that is on the rise is artificial intelligence, otherwise known as
A.I. A.I is a software that is able to learn and use its knowledge of learning patterns and habits.
A.I is being used to fight plastic pollution- one of the worst ocean pollutants- by
learning, tracking, and measuring how this plastic is making its way into the ocean.A.I can also
detect climate changes and model ecological systems. This enables monitoring of pollution,
tsunamis, debris and more. Oil and gas are some of the worst pollutants for humans, wildlife,
and for the earth. To help stop this troubling issue transceivers are used as remote sensors in
the ocean to help detect and estimate where and when these oil and gas spills are happening.
This information helps clean up crews and wildlife scientists study the effects of oil and gas

polluting our oceans as well as help stop this pollution. Technology is allowing us to do things
such as take plastic from the oceans and turn it into clothing, as well as bring in more money for
these projects to continue being run.

Conclusion:
There are many things that can be done we can do to stop spreading pollution.
Recycling is an easy, first step solution. Recycling helps to mitigate the amount of litter
that ends up in the ocean and by extension it protects the earth. There are many other
factors and many more people who can influence and implement what has been we
have discussed today to end pollution. Technology can only take humanity us so far.
Pollution and climate change have continued to get worse. The earth and wildfire are
being portrayed as better off than they actually are. Pollution affects us in our daily
liveseveryone from the seafood consumed we eat in the ocean all the way to climate
and crazy weather phenomena that destroy cities and leave people without homes. The
My hope on providing this information to you is to make the earth better and healthier
for the future and future generations. If we keep doing what we can with technology
technology continues to be used and developed, along with better choices being made,
and making better choices the earth will be a better place to live for all. us all.
