I love to play hockey. I’ve played the sport since I was five
years old, and I continue to for a total of thirteen years. It’s also
always been my dream to play at the professional level in
hockey.
It would be a lot of traveling from city to city, even back and
forth from Canada and the United States. The physical strain on
the body and mind would be a lot for a certain number of
months throughout the year.
It’s the best choice for me because It's something I very much
enjoy playing and I wouldn’t have any financial situations with
the pay that comes with playing at such a high level in the sport.
The upside of this career choice is if you can establish yourself
as a full-time and top goaltender in the league you potentially
can have a strong career in the sport. The downsides of this
career choice is that if you have a career ending injury or
perhaps aren’t performing to level you’ve been asked to you can
be dropped down to the minors. Which is the level below the
NHL.
Duties you need to perform in this job is making sure that you
always stay in physical shape. Taking care of your body, so
proper recovery after practices or games. Meaning nutrition,
stretching, even an ice bath is good for recovery especially after
a game. Apart from all that is making sure that you have a
certain amount of sleeping hours is also important for body
recovery. Apart from all that performing above the standard in
both games and practices is your jobs greatest responsibility.

There’s a lot of up incoming talent both tall and on the smaller
side. It starting to in the direction of smaller goalies reaching the
NHL level and more about how good you are stopping the puck
rather than how tall you are. So, the opportunities are starting to
open up.
Salary range: 775,000$ – 3,500,000$ per year
But it can be even higher just depends on your contract.
The lifestyle factors that come with being an NHL goalie is you
are constantly traveling from city to city between Canada and
the United States. Flying or busing everywhere. For a total of 82
games plus playoffs if you make it that far.
As far as advancement opportunities is depending on what the
circumstances may be with a team that wants to sign you. Your
salary can increase greatly.
1. I’m mentally strong in game, which is an extremely important
skill to have when playing in the goalie position. Which is all
thanks to my sportspsychologist.
2. I workout on a daily bases and is something I’ve incorpated
into my daily routine. In order to stay in game ready shape.
Whether thats cardio or lifting weights. Eating the right foods
and recoverying my body properly after a game or practice.
3. My favourite thing to do is sleep, so getting a proper rest
everyday isn’t a problem at all. Allowing my body to be
energized for the next day and perform my game to its fullest
everytime.

I don’t need any educational training or certificates you just
need to be really good at the sport. Now upon your way to
reaching the NHL you’ll need a highschool diploma and
depending on what route you take university or college can
come into play so having a diploma in whatever school you go
to is also a requirement to play there.

management skills and you must be flexible if your in a multi-

independently and you also must have a large amount of
dedication in order to be successful in the business work field.

business, bachelor’s, and master’s degree. As it can introduce
