Financial English - Oral Presentations

You will work in groups of 3-4 on an oral presentation that is worth 10% of your final grade. You
must choose a subject for your presentation:

An American/British Company Listed on a Major Index.

You presentation MUST include:


1) A summary and history of the company:

When was the company created? What does the company produce? When did the company
originally go public? In which index is it listed? …

2) Recent news concerning your company. You must find at least two articles from the
English-speaking press.

3) Your predictions for the future (5-10 years): do you expect the stock value to increase or
decrease? Why? What factors might affect the company? Will the company reissue stock? …

4) Ask 3 questions to the class related to your topic (opinion of other students/ quiz to check
their comprehension…)

Guidelines for Presenting

1. All groups will present on their assigned day, and ALL group members must present.
2. The presentation should be approximately 10-15 minutes.
3. Do NOT read previously written text. You will be SEVERELY penalized for doing so.
4. There will be a video-projector available for your use. You will, however, have to provide a
memory stick for your PowerPoint.
