SUBJECT: CEIT- 21021 OPERATING SYSTEM I

INSTALLING KALI LINUX ON VIRTUAL BOX

Objectives

 To know installation Kali on virtual box

Required Equipments

 Virtual box software

 A minimum of 20GB hard disk space for installation depending on the version,
Version 2020.2 requires at least 20GB.[15]
 A minimum of 2GB RAM for i386 and AMD64 architectures.
 A bootable CD-DVD drive or a USB stick( kali iso file)
 A minimum of an Intel Core i3 or an AMD E1 processor for good performance.

The recommended hardware specification for a smooth experience are:

 50 GB of hard disk space, SSD preferred

 At least 2GB of RAM

Procedures

1. Download and install Virtual Box

Download from this link - https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads and install on
my Window.

2. Download Kali Linux iso file

Download Kali Linux iso file from official site - https://www.kali.org/get-kali/#kali-
platforms .Before this step we need to know our processor (32-bit or 64-bit).We must
download the compatible one.
3. Open Virtual Box and install Kali
Launch virtual box and click “NEW” button.

Fill the name as you like and select the Kali Linux iso file (from download) in “ISO
IMAGE”
Then click the “Next” button.

Adjust the base memory and processors as you like. Then click the “Next” button.
Create a virtual Hard Disk and select the Disk Size .Then click the “Next” button.

Then click the “Finish” button.

Now We get Kali file on Virtual Box .Before we start we need to fix some setting for
this kali. So click on “Settings” button.

In setting, we need to go Network/ adapter 1 and change “Bridged Adapter” at

“Attached to:” to get network access on our Kali Linux.
Also change at “Shared Clipboard” to Bidirectional . Then click “OK”

After these step, Let “Start ” our Kali Linux.

Wait for a moment and if we see a logo on our window’s taskbar ,click on it.

Just click enter and wait for a moment.

We need to select a language for our system. So select “English” and click Enter or
Continue .
To select our location. Just click Enter or Continue .
To select our keyboard. Just click Enter or Continue . And wait for a moment.

If we reach this stage, we need to connect our PC with wifi connection . It can be
fined with a mobile hotspot .
Fill the host name as you like. Then click Enter or Continue.

Enter the user name and click Enter or Continue.

Choose root password for users. Then click Enter or Continue.

Click Enter or Continue.

Just click Enter or Continue.

Just click Enter or Continue.

Select “Yes” and click Enter or Continue.

Now the base system will install and wait for a moment.
Just click Enter or Continue.

It will take for a while. You can grab coffee or snack.

Select “YES” to install GRUB boot loader and click Enter or Continue. Then wait for
a moment.

To finish installation click Enter or Continue and Wait for a while.

Enter your user name and password .

Now we can use Kali Linux on our Virtual Box.
