Organisation
This foundation phase practice takes place in a small 5 by 5-yard area and develops players
dribbling and passing when under pressure. Working in teams of 2, one teammate starts off the
cone inside the playing area while the other starts with a ball on the outside. On the coaches call, the

two players will start dribbling around the playing area looking to catch each other. When players are
VIDEO on the side of their teammates, they must play a 1-2 combination before carrying on chasing the
opposition. When a player is tagged, the two players switch out. Keep score after 5 rounds of this to
see which team has the most tags.

Key Coaching Points


1. Keep the ball under your control
2. Bigger/Smaller touches depending on where you are ( Corners would be smaller touches)
3. Passing accuracy
4. Good 1st touch when reaching pass back

1. Players are allowed to cut one corner per round if they think they can tag the opponent

Organisation
This speed, agility and quickness practice takes place in a 30 by 30-yard area and focuses on
players short passing and agility. Players will pass around the outside area with one or two touches
while performing various SAQ exercises ( ladders, rings and hurdles) in between each station.
SCAN ME
Players will then play a quick one-two and pass into the mini-goal. The sequence ends with the
VIDEO player who passed the ball sprinting to the centre mannequin and back out to the start of the queue.

1. Passing quality and accuracy
2. High intensity and correct form through various SAQ stations
3. Communication when passing to team-mates
4. Higher tempo when playing quick one-two before the finish

This technical practice takes place in a 30 by 30-yard area and focuses on developing players
dribbling and finishing in 1 v 1 scenarios. To begin, players will dribble through the cones before
playing a one-two combination with the coach positioned on the side of the area. Players will take a

good first touch and drive towards the mannequin before shifting the ball to the side and finishing
VIDEO past the keeper in a 1 v 1. After finishing players will join the queue on the opposite side of the
practice.
