DIALOGUE COMPLETION – WRITING TIPS

TIPS FOR WRITING THE CONTEXTUAL DIALOGUE

THE CONTEXTUAL DIALOGUE

1. Before starting to write the required responses for the completion of the contextual
dialogue ensure that you carefully read the rubric given and observe the given word
limit (80 – 100) words. This represents the number of words you have written.
2. Your next step is to carefully look at the cues to ensure that you understand what you
are required to write in the dialogue.
3. When you understand what you need to include in the dialogue, read the entire
dialogue (what is given already) before you attempt to start writing your responses.
4. The next step is to read the information given before and after each blank space
(where you are required to write) before you write an appropriate response. The
prompts (information given/written) will guide you and should influence what you
write.
5. Repeat step four (4) for all blank spaces until the dialogue is completely written.
6. Do not leave out any of the cues given or you will lose marks.
7. To guarantee that you are not penalized, ensure that you reread the preamble and all
the cues so that you do not omit any.
8. Check over your work carefully!
9. Be sure to use the appropriate tenses, forms of the verbs, the correct verbs,
grammatical structures, exclamations, linking words, idiomatic expressions, etc., to
enhance your work and to successfully complete it.
10. Have fun!
