5 For many years, the magnificent Amur tiger was on the brink of extinction; at one
point fewer than 40 remained in the wild. Today, the story is very different; (optional)
latest survey figures estimate that there are around 500 Amur tigers in the wild, and
numbers have remained stable for the past decade. This success is thanks to regular
donations made by loyal supporters like you, which help fund long-term conservation
efforts for many vulnerable wildlife species.
A solitary female leopard looks for prey; patiently and silently she prowls the
hunting ground of her ancestors, seeking food for herself and for her cubs; (optional)
but tonight they will go hungry. The area of forest where she hunted only yesterday
is gone, cleared by loggers; her prey has gone too; for this leopard and her family it
is time to move on, but there are fewer and fewer places to go. Fewer than 40 Amur
leopards remain in the wild, and such a small population means that the entire
species could soon be wiped out. You have helped to create a positive new chapter for
the Amur tiger; will you do the same for the Amur leopard?

project which does so much good for the needy. We offer many kinds of support,
including agricultural, medical and educational aid, so that people can make their
own lives better – and not just for now, but on a lasting basis. Volunteers are needed
so that as much aid as possible can be given to those who rely on us. Some people
don’t even have clean water to drink! Imagine that, and think how rewarding it
would be to be part of a team that is able to make a difference. Contact your local
AKDN branch now to find out how you can join us in finding solutions to bring
happiness to others.
