3. do the Post-Task/s to apply and expand your

understanding of the lesson/s.

Only the Pre and Post Tasks should be printed out in a short

bond paper. These should also be accomplished before

submitting to your TLE teacher. These outputs are

requirements for you to take the Summative Assessments

which are recorder and graded.

Lesson Title RECOGNIZING PECS NEEDED IN COMPUTER
SYSTEMS SERVICING

Learning Objectives At the end of the lesson, you are should be able to:
 assess one’s PECs and practitioner’s PECs: characteristics,
attributes, lifestyle, skills, and traits; and
 compare and one’s PECs with that of a
practitioner/entrepreneur’s.

TECHNICAL TERMS

 Entrepreneur – somebody who initiates or finances a business


 Innovation – new invention such as new product or a new way of doing something
such as new service
 Intern – trainee to a particular work to gain practical experience
 Profit – financial gain from investment or transaction
 Risk – chance of loss or possibility of something going wrong

CHARACTERISTICS OF AN ENTREPRENUER
An entrepreneur recognizes different opportunities and turn these into business ventures.
He or she also employs people, though most of the time starts as self-employed and passionate
about what he or she does. The following are ten common characteristics of an entrepreneur:

1. Determined
No one earns money by sitting back and waiting for it to find them. Being dynamic and
always on the move make people successful. To solve problems, it is normal for entrepreneurs to
enjoy challenges and work persistently. They adapt well to changing situations. You have to be
determined from the beginning to be successful – even before you start your own business.
2. Hardworking
If you are determined to run your own business, you must concentrate on your work either as
a producer or a seller. The success of your business depends on how much time and effort you
will spend on it.
3. Self-confident

You must have a strong faith in your ability despite the problems that you will encounter
along the way.
4. Profit-oriented
When you enter into the world of business, obviously, you are looking for income because
you know that this will be your bread and butter not only for you but also for your family.
Therefore, you must see to it the business can generate income. Another plan of action is to
expand your own business through the use of your generated income.
5. Goal-oriented
An entrepreneur is forward looking. You have an advanced preparation for your business.
You set a long-term goal for the activities that are needed, an extensive preparation for the
production process and procedures that you need to go through to acquire, human and non-
human resources. Everything in your business will have to be set clearly, organized, and planned
depending on the goal you want to achieve.
6. Innovator
Entrepreneur constantly develop new ideas and improve on existing services and products.
7. Passionate
It is one of the most important characteristics of an entrepreneur. When you feel committed
to what you are doing and you care about it, you have a high chance of being successful at it.
8. Reliable
Being reliable means being able to be trusted for providing good service or products. Most
people will choose to work or to have business with someone who consistently delivers products
and services on time.
9. Risk-taker
Risk sometimes cannot be anticipated. When misfortunes happen, consider these as
challenges and work them out and set good alternatives. Risks may result to loss of your business
or even bankruptcy.

10. Information seeker


Entrepreneurs recognize that no one knows everything and that they can learn priceless
information from others.
GUIDELINES ON HOW TO STRENGTHEN YOUR OWN PECs

1. React positively to criticisms and be open to feedback.


2. Always demonstrate positive attitude to achieve a desired goal.
3. Always project a strong and well-balanced behavior.
4. Always exercise an assertive style in your work environment.
5. Avoid being too passive and too aggressive.
6. Don’t let anyone worsen your business life.
7. Prioritize your business goal rather than personal goal in order to become a
successful entrepreneur.
8. Acquire specific skills for creating and maintaining a conducive work environment.
9. Be responsible in everything you do in your business.

If your answer is mostly “agree”, then you are a good candidate for entrepreneurship. But
if your answer is mostly “disagree”, you can still be a good candidate for entrepreneurship.
Remember, no one can say to you that you cannot be a successful entrepreneur. The purpose of
this activity is to help you assess your interest and abilities in entrepreneurship and serves as
your reference for succeeding activities.
Part B. Find a practitioner in your town, preferably an owner of a computer repair shop or a
freelance computer technician. Let him or her answer the assessment by checking the appropriate
boxes. Tell him or her that it is important that he or she will be honest with the answers.
