LIGHT
Light is simply a name for a range of
electromagnetic radiation that can be detected by
the human eye. Electromagnetic radiation has a
dual nature as both particles and waves.
Wave interference is a phenomenon that
occurs when two waves meet while
traveling along the same medium.
Human Eye: The eye is essentially a closed
sphere into which light passes through a
lens and strikes a light sensitive surface.
Defects of vision and their correction :
1.Myopia or Short Sightedness
2.Hyperopia or Hypermetropia or far Sightedness
3. Presbyopia : Defects arises with aging
4.Astigmatism : Difficulty in seeing the detail
Optics is the branch of physics which deals
with the study of light.
Reflection of light :When a beam of light
falls on any surface, a part of it is sent back
into the same medium from which it is
coming.
Laws of Reflection :
(i) Incident ray, normal ray and the reflected ray, all lie
in the same plane.
(ii) The angle of reflection is always equal to the angle
of incidence.
Power of accommodation:
The eye accommodates for close vision by
tightening the ciliary muscles, allowing the pliable
crystalline lens to become more rounded.

Care of the eyes :
1. Wash your eyes frequently with clean water
2. Use suitable spectacles if required
3. Avoid insufficient light
4. Do not look directly at the sun or a powerful light.
5. Never rub your eyes
6. Always read at the normal distance for vision
7. Eat food having sufficient vitamin A
