MS in Theoretical and Computational Chemistry

(5th Batch, Session: 2020-2021)
Department of Theoretical and Computational Chemistry (TCChem)
(This is NOT an Evening Program)
Applications are invited from prospective students to join a full-time regular MS program in
Theoretical and Computational Chemistry. The duration of the program is one academic
year. There are thirty seats. Applicants must satisfy the following requirements:

 Four years of graduation in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacy,

Physics, Geology, “Soil, Water & Environment”, Chemical Engineering, Microbiology,
Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, Textile Engineering, Engineering from any
Discipline of “Leather engineering & Technology”.

 Applicants who have earned 4 years BS/BSc(Honors)/BSc Engineering from public

universities must have minimum CGPA 2.50 out of 4.00 and applicants from private
universities must have minimum CGPA 3.00 out of 4.00. Students from private universities
which are black listed by UGC are NOT eligible to apply.

 Students from public universities who have completed all examinations of 4 years program
but their result has not been published yet can apply giving their “Appeared” certificate. But
the selected candidates will have to submit “BS/BSc(Honors)/BSc Engineering” passed
certificate before admission.

 Applicants must have a minimum First Division or GPA 3.50 out of 5.00 or equivalent grades
in both SSC and HSC or in equivalent examinations.

 Students who are currently studying MS/MSc can apply also.

 Applicants who have already passed MS/MSc exam can also apply but the break of study
can not be more than (03) three years from 01 January, 2022.

An admission test (written) will be taken on Physical, Inorganic and Organic chemistry; Differential
calculus and Integral calculus.

Short Syllabus for Admission Test:

o Inorganic Chemistry (excluding Nuclear Chemistry)
o Organic Chemistry (excluding Natural products chemistry, Industrial Chemistry)
o Physical Chemistry (excluding Solid state chemistry, Surface and Colloid chemistry,
Quantum chemistry, Statistical mechanics)
o Fundamental of IR, NMR and UV-Visible spectroscopy
o Differential and Integral Calculus
Marks Distribution:
Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ): 60 marks
Mathematical problems of Chemistry: 24 marks
Differential and Integral Calculus: 16 marks

 Step-2: Application fee of Tk. 500.00 (Five Hundred Taka) has to be paid by depositing to
the Account No. 0200009822590 of Agrani Bank Ltd (any branch).
 Step-3: Applicants need to submit the completed application form.
