IMPORTANT:
Do not allow air to enter the modulator from the reservoir.
2. To purge air from the hydraulic lines leading to the wheels, bleed the system in the
following wheel sequence:
a. Left rear
b. Right front
c. Right rear
d. Left front
3. Select a box end wrench that fits onto the left-rear bleeder screw and place the wrench on
the screw nut.
4. Attach one end of a piece of clear tubing over the bleeder screw and submerge the other
end into a clean container half filled with brake fluid.
5. Depress the brake pedal several times. With the brake pedal pushed down, open the
bleeder screw about one-half turn. After the brake fluid stops flowing, close the bleeder
screw before releasing the brake pedal. Repeat these steps until the fluid is clean and free
of air bubbles.
NOTE:
i Allowing the master cylinder to bottom out when depressing the brake pedal may damage the
seals. The piston should only move within its normal range of travel.
6. Repeat steps 3 and 4 on the right front, right rear, and left front bleeder screws.

5. Have an assistant keep depressing the pedal with light to moderate pressure.
6. Open the RF/LR Sump bleeder screw about one-half turn. Allow the brake fluid to fill the
container until free of air bubbles and clean. Periodically fill the ABS reservoir before the
fluid level reaches the “MIN” line.
7. Torque the bleeder screw to 43-52 in-lbs (5 to 6 Nm), have your assistant release the
brake pedal, and press “N” on the Scanner to stop the actuator test.
8. Repeating steps 2 to 6, perform the next ABS Scanner valve test listed in Table HI2001-1
until you have completed all eight.
