Ian: Hello, Hello We are excited to have you here. Welcome to the exciting world of
“GLOBALIZATION AND MEDIA: CREATING THE GLOBAL VILLAGE” where we will embark
on a global journey to unravel the interconnected media that shape globalization. so stop,
look and listen as we explore

Built on the premise that globalization is not an outcome but a process- including economic,
political, and cultural processes- that may be as old as humankind and is ongoing today.

There are two grounded ideas within the premise of globalization and media:
The pairing of globalization and media and Globalization could not occur without media

Yumi: Now, to begin. We have 3 learning objectives for today’s topic

The first learning objectives is to know the History of Globalization

but first of all what is the origin of Globalization?

Hermioney: The Origin of Globalization is the The term globalization derives from the word
globalize, which refers to the emergence of an international network of economic systems.

The Globalization Timeline consist of:


The advances in Media and transportation technology truly globalized the world during 1990s
Next is the late 20thcentury which gave birth to the Advances in media along with changes in
mitigation patterns And lastly , the Enlightenment Age or the Age of European exploration

Yumi: the second learning objectives is the Evolution of Media and Globalization, its Time
Period or Stages

But first what is media?

Kristel: MEDIA broadly describes all channels of communication, including everything from
printed paper to digital data.

The Evolution of Media and Globalization consist of three stages


First is the pre-Industrial Age by Harold Innis

Second is the Industrial age by James Lull


Lastly, the electronic age by Terhi Rantanen

Yumi: For our last learning objectives we will explore the five-time periods were used to
capture the study of globalization and media:
The Oral, Script, Print, Electronic, and Digital

kristel: GLOBALIZATION AND MEDIA is a Set of multiple, uneven, and sometimes


overlapping historical processes, including economics, politics, and culture, that have
combined with the evolution of media and technology to create conditions under which the
globe itself can now be understood as “animagined community.”

Globalization and media have resulted in a more interconnected world, where information
flows freely and influences cultures, economies, and societies worldwide.
