Jack Russell Terrier

Materials:
• Crochet Hook - Size 1.75mm
• White Cotton Yarn (350m/100gm.)-40gm.
• Brown Cotton Yarn (400m/100gm.)-4gm.
• 14 mm Safety Nose
• Two 8 mm Safety Eyes
• Black Thread/Yarn
• Tapestry Needle and Normal Needle
• Stitch Marker
• Toy stuffing
• Hot Gun Glue or fabric Glue
• White Felt

sc - single crochet
dec - decrease (sc2tog)
inc - increase (2 sc in 1 st)
double inc (or 3 sc in 1 st)- double Size: 15 cm. long and 15cm. tall including ears.

R - round Note: For Dog used 100% cotton. With different type of yarn
the toy will be smaller or larger and you’ll need smaller or

Jack Russell Terrier

I crochet the Dog with crochet hook 1.75 mm. and used 100% White Cotton Yarn (length 350m. in
100gm.) and slightly thiner 100% Brown Cotton Yarn.

Head.
Head is crochet in rounds.

Please pay attention to the pictures I made it very detailed.

Ears (make 2).


Brown Yarn
My Brown Yarn is slightly thiner\finer then White. If yours Yarns are both the same quality maybe
you’ll no need to crochet ears as big as 27 st. probably max. 24 st. will be enough.

Patches.
I crochet all dogs body in one white colour so you can add as many patches as you like. Below are
patterns for 3 patches, 2 for the head are the same and one for the body is different. It is your choice
to follow my pattern or make your own unique patches.

Head Patch. (make 2)

Row 2. from 2nd st. crochet 4 sc., ch1., turn.
Row 3. from 2nd st. crochet 1 inc., 1 inc., 1 sc., ch1. turn.
Row 4. from 2nd st. crochet 5 sc., ch1., turn.
Row 5. from 2nd st. crochet 1 inc., 4 sc., ch1., turn.
Row 6. from 2nd st. crochet 1 inc., 4 sc., 1 inc., ch1., turn.
Row 7. from 2nd st. crochet 1 inc., 6 sc., 1 inc., ch1., turn.
Row 8. from 2nd st. crochet 1 inc., 7 sc., 1 inc., ch1., turn.
Row 9. from 2nd st. crochet 11 sc., turn.
Row 10. from 2nd st. crochet 8 sc., miss 1 st., 1 sc., turn.

Patch for the body.

R 1. 6 sc. in magic ring (6)


R 2. 6 inc (12)
R 3. (1 sc., 1 inc) x 6, ch1, turn
now crochet in rows.
Row 1.-2. from 2nd st. crochet 7 sc., ch1., turn.
Row 3. from 2nd st. crochet 1 sc., 1 inc., 5 sc. turn.
Row 4. from 2nd st. crochet 5 sc., ch1., turn.
Row 5. from 2nd st. crochet 1 inc., 4 sc. turn.
Row 6. from 2nd st. crochet 2 sc. Fasten off and leave long end to sew
it to the body.

Upper eyelid (make 2).

Row 1. ch8., turn


Row 2. from 2nd st. crochet 1 sl. st., 1 sc., 3 hdc., 1 sc., 1 sl. st.
Fasten off and leave long end to sew each eyelid to the head.

Cut from white felt 2 circles diam. 8-9 mm. (pic.)


Glue felt circle to the eye. With a pliers cut off back of the safety eyes and back of safety nose so it is
easy to glue it on with fabric or hot gun glue.

Attach with pins two patches to the head and sew it on.

Sculpturing the head.


To make the head looks more like real dogs head we need to sculpt it by using tapestry needle and
strong thread or yarn. Please ref. to the pictures.
Shape (not too tight) the head using needle and yarn: just put needle with yarn and lightly pull it as
1-2-1-3-6-5-2-7-4-6 cut off and hide the yarn.

Glue on eyes and nose and with tapestry needle and black yarn embroider the mouth\lips.

Sew on the ears by slightly arched each ear.

Assembly.

Attach all parts of the dog with pins (for head I use very long needle) and sew it on. Try different
legs, neck and head positions before finally to sew it on. Stuff more stuffing where needed (neck,
thighs). I didn’t use wires for legs so front legs should be firmly stuffed and sewn close to the body
(bottom of chest) and back legs firmly stuffed on bottom of the legs and not so much on top.
