Monthly Assembly Topic
JUNIOR KIDS
III. OBJECTIVES:
To teach the kids the perfect prayer that Jesus has taught us.
To help them learn the importance and effectiveness of prayer.
Last assembly, we talked about the Holy Spirit. How was your Fruits of the Holy Spirit
Necklace? Were you able to pray to the Holy Spirit for its fruits? (Let them respond)
Can someone share their experience with our Take Home Activity? (Ask a volunteer)
Let us always remember that the Holy Spirit is present in our lives, guiding us in making
good decisions so we can follow Jesus every day.
This month, we will be talking about being able to pray regularly. For our proclamation
statement, we say “I WILL PRAY TO GOD ALWAYS!”
He was praying in a certain place, and when he had finished, one of his disciples said
to him, “Lord, teach us to pray just as John taught his disciples.” He said to them,
“When you pray, say:
And he said to them, “Suppose one of you has a friend to whom he goes at midnight
and says, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread, for a friend of mine has arrived at
my house from a journey and I have nothing to offer him,’ and he says in reply from
within, ‘Do not bother me; the door has already been locked and my children and I
are already in bed. I cannot get up to give you anything.’ I tell you, if he does not get
up to give him the loaves because of their friendship, he will get up to give him
whatever he needs because of his persistence.
“And I tell you, ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door
will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds;
and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. What father among you would
hand his son a snake when he asks for a fish? Or hand him a scorpion when he asks
for an egg? If you then, who are wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children,
how much more will the Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?”
STORYLINE
(NOTE: The Speaker can use the storyline to better explain the Gospel to the kids. Be
creative! It may be delivered interactively through photos or role-playing.)
One day Jesus was praying from a certain place. When He had finished, one of His
disciples asked, “Lord, can you teach us how to pray?”
Jesus said to them, when you pray say this: “Father, hallowed be your name, your
kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread and forgive us our sins for we
ourselves forgive everyone in debt to us, and do not subject us to the final test.”
Then he tells a story to them, “Suppose you have a friend whom you go to at
midnight and say, ‘Friend, let me borrow three loaves of bread. A friend of mine
has just come to my house, and I don’t have any food for him.”
Then your friend answered from inside his home, ‘Don’t bother me! The door is
already locked, and my children and I are in bed. I can’t get up and give you
anything.’
But Jesus said, “I tell you that even if he will not get up and give you the bread
because you are his friend, he will still get up and give you everything you need
because you are not ashamed to keep on asking.
Jesus continued, ‘Ask, and you will receive; seek, and you will find; knock, and the
door will be opened. For those who ask will receive, and those who seek will find,
and the door will be opened to anyone who knocks. Would any of you who are
fathers give your son a snake when he asks for fish? Or would you give him a
scorpion when he asks for an egg? As bad as you are, you know how to give good
things to your children. How much more, then, will the Father in heaven give the
Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
By saying these, Jesus was teaching his disciples the power and importance of
praying every day.

VIII. PEPTALK
1. Did you enjoy the activity? (Let them respond) This activity taught us how to pray
in the simplest way. Even Jesus taught His disciples the simplest, most basic, and
most perfect prayer which we call now “The Lord’s Prayer”.
2. The Lord’s Prayer begins by calling God as our Father because He is our heavenly
Father. The next part is expressing how thankful we are for the blessings received
daily. Then we express how sorry we are for the mistakes we have committed as
we also promise to forgive others for their mistakes. Finally, we ask God to bless
us and protect us always from evil.
3. The Lord’s Prayer also teaches us to frequently use the following Power Words:
Thank you, Sorry, Please.
4. Remember how we prayed using these Power Words in our activity earlier? Every
day, we should spend time praying to God using these Power Words. Can we do
it? (Let them respond) If that is so let us together say “I will pray to God always!”
1. The service team will play the chant/song of KFC Heroes Challenge. This is their
signal to be a hero and do the KFC Heroes Challenge.
2. “St. Benedict is like a hero of the Catholic Church. We too could be like him and
be a hero. Do you want to be a hero like St. Benedict?”
3. It’s KFC Heroes Challenge time! A hero is always prepared in every situation
wherever he/she is needed. The KFC Heroes Challenge today is to have a strong
mind, body, and spirit.
4. This is our KFC Heroes Challenge. Are you ready? (Yes!) What is your favorite bible
verse?
5. Once everyone is able to send their favorite verse, call on at least 2 to 3 kids and
let them share their favorite verse with the group.
6. As KFC Heroes, we should carry a verse that we should share with others in the
same way as praying to God. Let us all be strong in mind, body, and spirit. The
same way that our gospel reading teaches us today.
Materials:
- Prayer Card (see Appendix)
- Red crayon or Red marker
Instructions:
1. Every day, as we wake up, let us pray the Lord’s Prayer before doing anything else.
2. Every time we say the Lord’s Prayer in the morning let us color that particular date
with red.
3. Every Sunday, when you attend the mass and faithfully participated in the Holy
Communion, color your “My Prayer Card” with the color yellow. It will serve as
your KFC Heroes Day.
XIII. PARENTS FORUM
(Send the Parents Handout and Invitation for the next assembly to the parents.)
*Play “How to conduct the Family Household (Instructional Video)” before starting the
Parents Forum. (https://youtu.be/lijQEvvc7PI)
Today, our children were taught the importance of prayer and how to pray every
day.
It is important for our children to learn how to pray. As parents, we are our child’s
primary teacher when it comes to praying. Our children learn to pray by watching
and copying us, their siblings, relatives, and the people around them.
Pope Francis exhorts us that, “Resting in prayer is especially important for families.
It is in the family that we first learn how to pray. And don’t forget that when the
family prays together, it remains together. That is why it is so important to pray as
a family! That is why families are so important in God’s plan for the Church!”
Their Take Home Assignment this month is the “My Prayer Card”. This assignment
will hopefully remind them to always pray every day. We are tasked to help and
encourage them in their prayer.
Lastly, let us conduct the FAMILY HOUSEHOLD. During the household, let us also
find the time to discuss and ask for the intercession of the FEATURED SAINT of the
month. For our guide on how to conduct Family Household, please watch the video
“How to conduct the Family Household (Instructional Video)” on YouTube.
