A BRIEF HISTORY

The Bermudez Center for Arts and Technology, Inc. popularly

known as BCAT, is a newly established educational institution in the
town of Minalabac, Camarines Sur and had its humblest beginning in
2019 when a registered nurse and master in public administration, Gerry
A. Bermudez, started to operate a school in a two – storey building
downtown of the Municipality of Minalabac. Meanwhile, the school
started to file an application for Junior High School, Senior High School
and TESDA Program courses.

The idea of having an educational institution within Poblacion-Minalabac was first

convinced by the registered nurse, Jocelyn C. Pangan, aiming for the poor and deserving
Minalabacquenos and other neighboring towns who wish to take basic education and technical
vocational training could be freed from the burden of going to other places and save a lot for
their education. With the support of local government unit of Minalabac headed by Municipal
Mayor, Hon. Christopher R. Lizardo, the office of the mayor agreed to the memorandum of
agreement to become a partnership for the immersion of the students for their on-the-job
training as well as to use their grounds and facilities for other school activities.

In 2020, the Department of Education released the Government Permit for the Junior
High School from Grades 7 – 10 and Provisional Permit to Operate the Senior High School
Program from Grades 11 – 12. The program offers of BCAT in Senior High School are
Academic Track: General Academic Strand (GAS); Accountancy, Business and Management
(ABM); Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS), Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL)
Track: Home Economics (HE): Food and Beverage Services NC II, Hilot Wellness NC II,
Bookkeeping NC II, Bread and Pastry Production NC II, Tourism Promotion Services NC II,
Local Guiding Services NC II, Events Management NC II, Nail Care NC II, Beauty Care NC II;
Information and Communications Technology (ICT): Computer System NC II.

Also, the BCAT was granted by the Technical Education and Skills Development
Authority released the Certificate of TVET Program Registration No. 20200517ELCCSS213039
to offer a program in Computer Systems Servicing NC II.
