Little Big Sapling
Crochet Pattern
Materials Used:
Worsted weight yarn, in your choice of colors (Model
created with Red Heart Super Saver, in Warm
Brown, with Mixed Greens accent)
Size H/8 (5.00mm) crochet hook
Two 12mm safety eyes
Small amount of stuffing
Yarn needle

Size/Gauge:
Gauge is not important to this project. Finished
models measure 7" tall for the Little Big Sapling, and
3" tall for the Flower Pot.

Instructions: (Stuff as you go)
Head/Body:
Row 1: ch 7. Sc in 2nd ch from hook, and each remaining ch. (6 sts)
Rows 2-6: ch 1, TURN. Sc in each st across. (6 sts)
Rnd 7:(Now working in rnds) ch 1. Sc evenly around outer edge, working 2 sc in each corner. Join to 1st sc. (24 sts)
Rnd 8: Working in FLO for this entire rnd, *ch 1. Work {1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 hdc} all in next st. Ch 1. Sl st in each of the next 2 sts*. Repeat (*) around. Join.
Rnd 9: Working in unused BLO for this entire rnd, ch 1. Sc in each st around. Join. (24 sts)
Rnd 10: ch 1. Working in both loops again, sc in each st around. Join. (24 sts)

Rnd 8: (Creating fingers) *Ch 4. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, and each of the next 2 chs. Sl st in next st of arm*, 4 times. Sc2tog. Join. Fasten off. Weave in
ends.

Vines: (Make 2)
Ch 50. Fasten off.

Small Leaf: (Make desired number)


Ch 2. Sc in 2nd ch from hook. Sl st in same ch. Fasten off, leaving a tail for tying.

Large Leaf: (Make desired number)


Ch 2. Hdc in 2nd ch from hook. Ch 1. Sl st in same ch as hdc is worked. Fasten off, leaving a tail for tying.

Assembly:
Use Black yarn to stitch on a mouth.
Place one arm on either side of body, at rnd 21, and sew securely in place.
Place one leg on either side of body, near bottom, and sew securely in place. The half double crochet stitches simulate a knee, so take that into consideration
when placing!
Attach one vine to bottom of each leg, and randomly wrap around legs, body, and arms. Stitch other end in place. Tie leaves on in desired positions, and weave
in ends.

Flower Pot:
Rnd 1: ch 2. Work 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join. (8 sts)
Rnd 2: ch 1. Work 2 sc in each st around. Join. (16 sts)
Rnd 3: ch 1. *Sc in next st. Work 2 sc in next st*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (24 sts)
Rnd 4: ch 1. Bphdc in each st aruond. Join. (24 sts)
Rnd 5: ch 1. *Sc in each of the next 3 sts. Work 2 sc in next st*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (30 sts)
Rnds 6-7: ch 1. Sc in each st around. Join. (30 sts)
Rnd 8: ch 1. *Sc in each of the next 4 sts. Work 2 sc in next st*. Repeat (*) around. Join. (36 sts)
