Ampicillin is a penicillin-type antibiotic that belongs to the aminopenicillin class of the penicillin family. It
is used to prevent and treat a variety of bacterial infections, including respiratory tract infections,
urinary tract infections, meningitis, salmonellosis, and endocarditis.2 It is also used to treat bladder
infections, pneumonia, gonorrhea, meningitis, and infections of the stomach or intestines.
