2.Prioritization of need
• Most common disease
• Severity of health consequences
• Severity in terms of social and economic point of view
due to poor sanitation and unhygienic drinking and
eating practices.
• Problems which can be solved and managed by using
locally available resources and easy to see tangible
result after implementation.
• Knowledge, attitude and practice can be changed
within a week of time as their willingness on the
programme (changes can be brought in short period
of time)

3.Setting goals and Objectives

Goal
To reduce the morbidity and mortality of Typhoid
among the community people of Chitrawan
Municipality of Chitwan District within 1 year through 7
days health education programs.

• General Objectives
–To impart knowledge regarding the
mode of transmission of typhoid
infection and importance of hygienic
and sanitary practices, within 7 days of
health education, so that they develop
attitude necessary for lowering the
incidence of typhoid in the community.

Specific Objectives
• Participants will be able to explain the meaning and mode of
transmission of typhoid
• Participants will be able to describe the proper waste management
system
• Participants will be able to describe the environmental sanitation
and its importance
• Participants will be able to explain the importance of safe drinking
water.
• Participants will be explain to define the meaning and importance
of environmental sanitation
• Participant will be able to elaborate the importance of Purified
drinking water and demonstrate the methods of water purification
• Participant will describe the importance of hand washing practices
and demonstrate the proper hand washing techniques.

a) Building Commitment
• The participants as local political leaders,
teachers, FCHVs, as well as others person will be
made commit for the success of the programme
by:
– Orientation about the purpose and usefulness of the
program
– Problem focused interpersonal communication with
health workers, teachers, social workers,and mother’s
groups to create interest on the programme.
– Sharing of ideas and experiences related to the
problem by conducting group discussion
– Appreciating the supporters.

b) Training of human resources
• The health educators will be trained before
mobilizing them in the field. If needed refresher
training will be given after need assessment of
facilitators. The training includes the following
topics for the better performance:
– Objectives of the program
– Contents to be taught
– Methods and media
– Time frame of the programme
– Evaluation techniques
– Availability and utilization of local resources

c) Mobilizing and utilizing resources
• Financial support and other necessary materials will be
managed by Municipality,transportation will be managed by
college.
– Adequate resources will be collected on time such as man,
money,& material
– Health educators will be oriented about their
responsibilities through necessary meeting and discussion
about the utilization of the resources
– The resources will spend adequately in proper way
– Purchasing, storing and distribution of the resource
materials will be done properly by providing proper
training.

d)Organizing community
• Community people will be made conscious and
help to bring positive changes. The community
organization in the program will be done by-
– Community meeting with the key persons
– Establishing coordination with local agencies like
different formal and informal groups with the
community
– Forming health education committee by involving the
influential and interested person
• For the effective implementation of the program

• Behavioral change regarding the sanitation:
– How they dispose the waste
– Hand washing practices before food handling and
after defecation,etc will be taken as the major
indicators.
– Water purification Methods

11.Follow up
• With proper follow up, the health education
programme cannot be sustainable. So, follow
up would be done biannually for one years
with the help of FCHVs and community
leaders.
• Follow up will help in outcome evaluation
