PRESENTATION

Good evening classmates and Mrs. Giouli

Today I will talk to you about Frida Kahlo and specifically some of her artworks. But before I do that,
I will tell you a little about herself, so that you know some basic information about her and her life.

Frida Kahlo was born in 1907 and died at the age of 47 in 1954 due to embolism. She was a Mexican
painter and had a relationship with Diego Rivera. She received drawing instructions from printmaker
Fernando Fernández and later began painting outside her school as a job to help support her family
financially. After an accident at the age of 18, when she had to stay in bed, she began to paint herself
through a mirror she had and said "I paint myself because I am often alone and I am the subject I
know best." And later, when she recovered, she started painting other objects and people, besides
her "I begin again, painting things just as I see them with my own eyes and nothing more."
