away in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He was called “doctor of the poor”, recipient of the Ramon Magsaysay Award, The
highest civilian award in Bangladesh, the Independence Award, was conferred upon Dr. Zafrullah Chowdhury in
1977.

15. Renowned Marathi Lavani singer Sulochana Chavan passed away. She was known as ‘Lavani Samradnyi’
(Queen of Lavani) for her contribution to the traditional Maharashtrian musical genre of Lavani, associated with
the folk theatre of Tamasha.

16. H.R. Keshava Murthy, a senior gamaka exponent, who was honoured with Padma Shri earlier this year, passed
away. Gamaka, also known as kaavya vaachana, is a form of storytelling by singing that originated in Karnataka,
