Bus chassis
General
A complete type designation is compiled according to the following example: L94 IB4x2NB 260.
Each part has the following meaning:
4 Development stage
I Chassis class
B Chassis adaption
N Chassis height
B Suspension
Engine location
F Chassis with the engine mounted in line in front of the front axle.
K Chassis with the engine mounted in line behind the rearmost axle.
L Chassis with the engine mounted in line and inclined behind the rearmost axle.
N Chassis with the engine mounted transversely and inclined behind the rearmost axle.
Development stage
The development stage relevant to the product is given using a number.
Chassis class
E Chassis for long distances on even surfaced roads: High driving and travelling comfort.
I Chassis for short and long distances on even and uneven surfaced roads: Normal driving
and travelling comfort. Chassis height for two or more entry steps.
U Chassis for short distances on even surfaced roads. Chassis height without a requirement
for an entry step in the front section.
H Chassis for short and long distances on uneven, surfaced or unsurfaced roads: Chassis
height for two or more entry steps.
Chassis adaption
Wheel configuration
Gives in figures the number of weight bearing wheels multiplied by the number of driven wheels.
6x2/2 A 3-axle chassis with drive on one rear axle and a tag axle without guide wheels in front of
the driven axle.
Chassis height
Gives relative chassis height, based partly on the axle distance from the upper edge of the frame to
the centre of the rear driven axle, and partly on the distance from the upper edge to the centre of the
front axle.
Suspension
Power code
The code is an approximate value of the net power in horse power according to ISO 1585,
ECE R24-03 and SAE J1349. The power relates to the engine with maximum fan slippage.
Buses
General
A complete type designation is compiled according to the following example: CN94 UB4x2EB 220.
Each part has the following meaning:
C Type of body
N Engine location
4 Development stage
U Chassis class
B Bus adaption
E Chassis height
B Suspension
Bus type
C Body without steps in the front section and with no baggage area. Intended for urban and
suburban traffic.
Engine location
L Chassis with the engine mounted in line and inclined behind the rearmost axle.
N Chassis with the engine mounted transversely and inclined behind the rearmost axle.
Development stage
The development stage relevant to the product is given using a number.
Chassis class
U Chassis for short distances on even surfaced roads. Chassis height without a requirement
for an entry step in the front section.
Chassis adaption
A Articulated chassis.
Wheel configuration
Gives in figures the number of weight bearing wheels multiplied by the number of driven wheels.
6x2/2 A 3-axle bus with drive on one rear axle and a tag axle without guide wheels in front of the
driven axle.
Chassis height
Gives relative chassis height, based partially on the distance from the upper edge of the frame to the
centre of the rear driven axle, and partially on the distance from the upper edge to the centre of the
front axle.
Suspension
Power code
The code is an approximate value of the net power in horse power according to ISO 1585,
ECE R24-03 and SAE J1349. The power relates to the engine with maximum fan slippage.
Engines
General
A complete type designation is compiled according to the following example: DSC12 01 L01.
Each part has the following meaning:
DSC Version
12 Swept volume
L Application
01 Variant
The following is a description of all the alternatives for each component of the type designation.
Version
DSC Diesel engine, turbocharged with air cooled charge air cooler.
Diesel engines adapted for ethanol power are listed with an E after the designation for swept volume.
Swept volume
The engine swept volume is described in whole litres.
Application
Variant
Designated with two digits, 01 to 99.
The two digit number is a development code which indicates modifications to the engine which do
not affect the engine's base version.
