Nurse call* The lateral caregiver units are located on both sides of the middle of the
bed under the sleep surface. They are used disable and enable the electrical
functions.
HiLow
The sleep surface of the Hill-Rom 900 Electrical Bed can be raised or
lowered in order to position the patient or when putting the patient in the
bed or taking the patient out of the bed.
The HiLow system is made up of two independent oscillating elevation
arms that are articulated on the bed frame and slide in the sections of the
chassis. The motors are attached to the bed frame and to the elevation arm.
The system does not require any special maintenance during its nominal
service life (see “Preventive maintenance” on page 4-2). Consequently, the
elevation arms can be replaced in the event of a failure, but must only be
dismantled or repaired by Hill-Rom personnel.
Retractable head section
The AHS function combines the upwards and sideways movements of the
head section towards the head of the bed.
2 Reverse Trendelenburg/Trendelenburg
The sleep surface can be titled in two ways:
– Reverse Trendelenburg (the foot end is lowered).

NOTE: The upper part of the bed is made up of a supporting structure and a
mobile sleep surface suspended by articulated rods.
3 This function can be used without a mains power supply thanks to the
battery.
NOTE:
The rods are connected to weigh cells (non-OIML) that are attached to the
supporting structure. The weigh cells operate using the principle of a strain
gage.

The purpose of the proposed troubleshooting method is to limit as much as
possible the number of spare parts required and costs when analyzing the
failure.
NOTE:
It is advisable to lock out the electrical functions that are not affected by the
troubleshooting before starting the analysis or to disconnect the bed if the
failure does not affect an electrical function. In the latter case, all functions
should be locked out if the bed is fitted with a battery. 4
