Four Times Someone Realized Donatello

Couldn’t See for Sh*t

Summary:
The title honestly says it all.

Notes:
I've been waiting for someone to do more than acknowledge that there is no way Donnie went to
an actual optometrist, but I'm out of fan fiction from the new movie to read so I decided to write
one.
Work Text:

1. Donatello

[PANEL 1]
Donnie was sitting in a real human math class, learning real human math
[PANEL 2]
the teacher wrote something on the board and called on him. “Donatello, what is this expression
equal to?”
[PANEL 3]
Donnie looked at the board, yet all he could see was the general shape of it. He squinted and tried
pushing his glasses up his nose, but if anything, they just made things worse. “Uh…” Apparently,
he had paused too long because the class had started laughing.
[PANEL 4]
“Woah, DONATELLO can’t answer a question?” a kid from the back of the class exclaimed
jokingly. “Guess he isn’t so smart after all!”
[PANEL 5]
“Students!” the teacher reprimanded. “That is more than enough. The answer was a negative one.
Now, can anyone explain why to your classmate?”
[PANEL 6]
Donatello hung his head in shame. He didn’t bother listening to the explanation, he already
understood how to find the answer. He just couldn’t see the question.
2. Michelangelo

[PANEL 1]

“OW!” Donnie yelled after what must have been the fourth time he walked into the corner of the
dresser that week. “SON OF A-”

[PANEL 2]

“Careful!” they heard their dad yell from the other room as Donnie bit his lip.

[PANEL 3]

Mikey looked from Leo to Raph as the two laughed and poked fun at their other brother, but
when he looked at Donnie, all he saw was pain and frustration.

[PANEL 4]

“Donnie,” he asked, interrupting whatever rude joke Raphael was about to make, “Are you good?
You’ve been doing that a LOT lately.”

[PANEL 5]

His brother seemed taken aback by the question. “What? Yeah, I’m fine.”

[PANEL 6]

“Okay…” Mikey said, not quite convinced. “If you’re sure.”

3. Raphael

[PANEL 1]

Raphael was playing video games with Mikey while the other two turtle teens (Donnie and Leo)
were staying after school for debate club, and the younger of the two (Mikey)paused the game.

[PANEL 2]

“Hey, what the h*ll!?” Raph asked, throwing his controller down. “You can’t stop it in the middle
of a round, I was about to beat you!”

[PANEL 3]

“Sorry,” Mikey apologised, looking apprehensive about what he was about to say. “I just have a
question.”

“Fine but make it quick.” – Raph

[PANEL 4]

“So, you know how Donnie has been like- high key a walking disaster?” – Mikey

[PANEL 5]

“Wow,” Raph said, laughing. “Never expected you of all people to put it like that, but yeah. What
about it?”

[PANEL 6]

“I think there might be something up. With his vision or death precipitation, I guess, I don’t
know.”

[PANEL 7]

Raphael just stared at Mikey for a moment as the orange turtle got more and more anxious, before
bursting out with laughter. “I’m sorry, did you seriously just say ‘death precipitation’!?”

[PANEL 8]

“Yeah?” - Mikey

“It’s ‘depth perception’ Mikey! Even I know that!” – Raph

[PANEL 9]

Michelangelo laughed along with Raph at his mistake. “Whatever, you know what I mean, dude.”

[PANEL 10]

“Yeah, I know. Still, I haven’t really noticed anything like THAT. I’m pretty sure he’s naturally
the least graceful ninja ever to exist.”

“No way, he’s totally after my title, then!” Raph and Mikey laughed momentarily before Leo and
Donnie came in.

[PANEL 11]

“Hey, are you guys playing without us!?” Donnie asked as he rushed into the room with Leo
followed behind.

“Mind starting a new match?” Leo asked.

“Sure!” Mikey said as he got the round set up.

[PANEL 12]

Raphael watched as his brother in purple sat down and grabbed a controller; only after his
conversation with Mikey did something seem strange.

[PANEL 13]

“Do you have to sit so close, Donnie?” he commented as he passed over the purple controller.

[PANEL 14]

“Chill, Raph! It’s just easier to see this way.” - Donnie

“Okay…” - Raph
4. Leonardo

[PANEL 1 – Use your magic to shorten this down :)]

In a way, Leo considered himself lucky to be able to share any of his classes with Donatello given
how advanced his classes were, even if it was only English. One annoying thing about, however,
was that since the teacher allowed students to have phones in class, Donnie would take a picture
of the board every. Single. Time that something new was added to it. At first it was only slightly
annoying, but it didn’t take long for it to become an awful distraction. So sure, sue Leonardo if he
just wanted to go one class period without his brother pulling his phone out. So what if that
involved temporarily hiding his phone?

[PANEL 2]

However, what Leo didn’t expect was for Donnie to lean over and whisper to him, “I think I left
my phone in my last class, what does the board say?”

[PANEL 3]

“What? Why are you asking ME?” – Leo

[PANEL 4]

“Because I can’t tell from here!” – Donnie

[PANEL 5]

Leo looked over and suddenly realised what Donnie had meant. It was so obvious. His eyes were
squinted, glasses in Donatello’s hands. “Oh. Here, give me a second.” He quickly reached into his
bag and grabbed the phone he had stolen from Donnie and handed it over. “Here.”

[PANEL 6]

“What!? Why- know what? We’re discussing this after class.”

Great. Leo couldn’t wait for that conversation.
