1.1 GENERAL
1.1.1 The equipment/system supplied shall be complete in every respect, ready for operation. It is
not intent of purchaser to specify every piece of equipment / item, therefore any item not
specifically mentioned in this specification but required as per good engineering practice and
safe and trouble free operation of the system shall be deemed to have been specified by the
purchaser and shall be included in Contractor’s scope of work/supply. Contractor to note
that this is a “Zero deviation” bid. Hence any deviation, what so ever, to the tender
specification is not acceptable. Any exclusion or deviation or ambiguity in the scope
of supply and/or work shall be submitted for clarifications during pre-bid meeting. For
any such discrepancy or deviation identified after award of work, purchaser’s decision
shall be final and binding on the contractor without any price and/or time implications.
1.1.2 Any item / component / facility not specifically mentioned but required as per good
engineering practice within package battery limit for safe, continuous, trouble free operation
of the plant is deemed to have been specified and shall be included in the scope of
Contractor, without any commercial implication to Owner.
1.1.3 Contractor to consider and include site visit (s), as required, to make themselves fully
aware of the space available for raw bamboo handling package and ensure complete
feasibility of the scheme before submission of technical offer as no price implication
whatsoever shall be entertained after award of Contract. Attached layout / scheme is
preliminary in nature and for guidance purpose only, Contractor shall develop layout
/ scheme considering all facilities required making the system complete and
operational.
1.1.4 All the items / packages / facilities shall comply with applicable national and international
codes & standards as well as any statutory regulation in existence particularly for that
items/package/facility.

and replenishment of any loss of these during erection and commissioning.
1.2.7 Hose stations for Plant Air and Service water in all the buildings / sheds and wherever
required.
1.2.8 Complete Electrical / Instrumentation / Structural / Architecture items and works including
superstructures for the package as per respective specifications.
1.2.9 Painting of all equipment and items as per painting specification attached elsewhere in the
Tender document, suitable for corrosive industrial environment, including final coat in shop
& supply of paint for touch up at site of any damage to paint during transportation & site
installation.
1.2.10 Special tools & tackles, if any (Price to be included in the base price). Special tools and
tackles shall include the following as minimum, over and above Contractor’s
recommendations:
One No. belt vulcaniser suitable for all type of belts provided,
One No. mobile trolley mounted belt changing device suitable for all type of belts
provided.
One no. blade sharpening unit suitable for sharpening Drum chipper blades, shredding

machine blades etc.
1.2.11 Mandatory Spares as mentioned below (Price to be included in the base price).
Bamboo Chippers: One (1) complete set of Knives/Blades including fixtures for each
chipper.
Conveyors:
Idler rollers: 5 % (Minimum 10 numbers) of each type and size.
Conveyor Pulley: One (1) number of each type & size.
Bearing & Sleeves: Two (2) numbers of each type & size.
Plummer Block: Two (2) numbers of each type & size.
Electrical / Instrumentation / Structural and other Mandatory spares: As per respective
specifications.
1.2.12 Commissioning spares, as required (Price to be included in the base price). Any and all
spares required during commissioning, over & above quoted spares, shall also be supplied
by Vendor without any time & price implication.
1.2.13 Quotation for recommended spares for two years’ normal operation and maintenance for
complete package including those required for electrical and instrumentation. Itemized price
list to be submitted along with the bid. Owner shall order these spares separately at Owner’s
discretion. The quotation for Two Year spares shall include the following as minimum, over
and above Contractor’s recommendations
5 % Idler rollers of each type and size.

HPU filters
2 Sets of Belt repairing kit
Bearings & Sleeves for each types & sizes
1.2.14 Drawings, documents, specification, inspection & test reports, performance test procedures
etc. as defined in document no. B215-000-80-43-VDR-4505.
1.2.15 Any other item not specifically mentioned but required for safe and efficient operation of the
equipment.
Contractor. Training shall include 2 batches of 5 persons in each batch for 5 days per
batch. The training program shall comprise of classroom training and explanation of
details of equipment at site. Also refer Instrumentation Specification for Training of
Package PLC of this plant.
xvi) All statutory clearances and permits from local, statutory and other bodies for the package
/ system, as required/applicable shall be as per GCC/SCC.

xvii) Handing over the plant to Owner as per EIL /Owner satisfaction.
1.3.2 Contractor shall provide separate quotation for comprehensive post warranty AMC for
package PLC for first five (5) years of operation and maintenance services (including
all spares as required) for entire Raw Bamboo Handling Package after commissioning
and the same shall be considered for Commercial comparison. Owner shall order this
service separately at Owner’s discretion.
1.3.3 Contractor shall provide separate quotation for comprehensive per month charges for
first six (6) months operation and maintenance services (including all spares &
consumables as required) for entire Raw Bamboo Handling Package after
commissioning and the same shall be considered for Commercial comparison. Owner
shall order this service separately at Owner’s discretion.
1.3.4 3D Modelling of the complete Raw bamboo handling package as per piping
specification attached elsewhere with this tender.(Contractor shall provide separate
quotation for the same, however the cost shall be added to the total cost for
commercial comparison purpose).
2.0 EXCLUSIONS
2.1 Site Grading and Piling Works. However layout, foundation details and load data as required,
for arranging the piling works shall be furnished by the Contractor.
2.2 Mobile loading equipment for raw bamboo and bamboo chips. However Contractor shall
furnish the Quantity, Capacity and other details for such mobile loading equipment, for
arranging the same by Owner.
2.3 Control Room and Substation Building
2.4 All civil foundations. However Contractor shall furnish GA drawings, load data, Base plate,
bolt details etc. within 3 weeks from LOI for design of Foundation & Superstructure (RCC
works) by others. Also refer Structural Scope of Work Doc. No. B215-000-81-41-SOW-4505
attached with this Tender.
2.5 Supply of utilities.
2.6 Fire fighting system network. However, the fire fighting facilities such as piping, sprinklers
etc. to be installed in the Contractor’s supplied equipment/facilities, shall be supported from
Contractor’s supplied structure/facilities. Details of fire fighting facilities would be shared with
the contractor, during detailed engineering. Accordingly, the structures should be adequately
2 designed to take care of the additional loads of the fire fighting facilities without any time and
cost implications to Owner.
3.0 UTILITIES
3.1 Utility connections for Plant air, Service water, Instrument Air are envisaged. If any other
utility is/are required, Contractor shall indicate the same during pre-bid stage.

3.2 All the utility lines shall be made available at single point near plant pipe rack. Further
distribution (engineering, procurement, fabrication, erection etc.) up to various users’ location
from the battery limit point, including incorporation of any conversion equipment / facilities as
required, shall be in the scope of the Contractor.

1.1 Specific requirements and guidelines pertaining to individual equipment and system are
listed in subsequent sections. However, the following general considerations have to be
kept in view for all items while formulating their specifications and procurement engineering
activities:
1.1.1 Reliability in service (assessed from Contractors’ relevant track record and improved by
incorporating certain minimum design features or requirements in the specifications).
1.1.2 Compliance with applicable national or international codes and standards as well as any
statutory regulation in existence for a specific item.
1.1.3 Ease of operation and maintenance including any necessary measures for ensuring
safety of personnel and equipment as well as a conducive working environment.
1.1.4 Standardization of components, wherever feasible.
1.1.5 Adherence to any limitations of space available for the equipment and its operation /
maintenance.
1.1.6 Equipment shall be designed for the given site condition.
1.1.7 Electrical, Instrumentation and controls wherever applicable for the equipment and
packages shall be engineered as per the respective sections, described in the Tender
Document.
1.2 Specifications forming a part of the Tender Document indicate a minimum standard of
quality for materials, fabrication and/or erection of the proposed equipment. Responsibility
for complete compliance to these specifications shall rest with the Contractor. It will be
Contractor’s responsibility to obtain clarification from Owner’s representative, wherever
necessary, which in all cases shall be final and binding.
1.3 All equipment and materials supplied or installed under these specifications shall be
installed in accordance with sound engineering principles and good fabrication and
construction practice (No omission from these specifications shall relieve the Contractor
from his responsibility).
1.4 All equipment and materials fabricated and installed under these specifications shall
conform to the latest editions of the applicable codes and standards cited in the bid
documents. No omission in the project instructions shall be construed as relieving the
Contractor of his responsibility to ascertain these requirements, to perform work and furnish
material in accordance with the codes specified.
1.5 Contractor shall develop technical specification of equipment taking into consideration the
requirements defined in specifications, data sheets and the requirements attached with bid
package.
1.6 Equipment shall be complete in all respects and any item or feature not covered in the
specification but essential for proper operation shall be included by the Contractor. Also
the plant shall conform in all respects to high standards of engineering design, state of art
technology, and reliability in continuous operation.
1.7 Painting shall comply to the requirement as per specification attached with the bid package.
1.8.1 The equipment and facilities shall be designed to meet the requirements as specified in the
Documents / Drawings enclosed or referred in the Tender for Raw Bamboo Handling
Package. In the event of any conflict noticed by the Contractor, the same shall be brought

43-0001) showing Raw Bamboo Handling Package area and the tentative location of the
facilities like chippers, screens, conveyors, chip storage, silo etc. is attached with this
Tender.
1.8.2 Based on this Schematic layout drawing, contractor shall develop detailed layout drawing of
items in contractor’s scope specifying the outline dimensions including the position of major
facilities under the scope of this requisition along with the bid. Contractor shall also furnish
details of all interface point/battery limit locations during detail engineering.
1.8.3 All the equipment shall be field proven for such an application taking into consideration
normal preventive and running maintenance of the unit and their auxiliaries.
1.8.4 Equipment, electrical and instrumentation related to Raw Bamboo Handling package shall
be suitable to withstand the condition to be encountered, like the abrasiveness of bamboo,
logs & chips and the presence of bamboo dust and foreign material that may be carried
along the raw material such as soil, sand etc.
1.8.5 For drive unit of equipment, shafts shall be driven directly by motor, reducers via a coupling.
Gear mechanism shall be housed in a seal tight casing with oil bath lubrication.
1.8.6 All equipment shall be of proven design. Prototypes or extensive modifications of the basic
designs are unacceptable.
1.8.7 The installation shall be designed with adequate facilities for maintenance and operations.
1.8.8 All equipment/packages shall be sourced from vendors as per Master Vendor list (attached
with the tender). Contractor shall procure equipment from Master Vendor list (attached with
the bid package) within the range specified as per approved enlistment with EIL. Any
additional vendors if proposed by Contractor for any item(s) where no list is provided in the

Master Vendor List, the makes/sub vendor of same shall have sufficient Proven Track
Record (PTR) and shall be subject to Client / EIL approval during detail engineering without
any time and price implication to Owner.
1.8.9 Plant shall be laid out and constructed for convenience and safety of operation and
maintenance. All equipment shall be oriented to permit servicing in such a way as to require
a minimum of dismantling.

checked to assure that unsatisfactory conditions such as plugging, and/or undesirable
chemical reactions will not occur.
1.9.4 Selection of material for each component of equipment shall be based on the design
pressure, temperature and other conditions of operation and in no case shall be inferior to
the material indicated in the Tender Document.
1.10.1 Layout shall be prepared taking into consideration various factors like requirement of
operability, approach, safety, withdrawal space requirement, maintenance, foundation
requirements etc. for convenient operation.
1.10.2 The facility shall be laid out and constructed for convenience and safety of operation and
maintenance. Similar equipment shall be grouped together as much as possible so as to
best conform to good engineering practice and fulfill accepted standards of process
simplicity, safety, and economy. All equipment shall be oriented to permit servicing in such
a way as to require a minimum of dismantling. In the case, conservation of space shall also
be taken into account.
1.10.3 Contractor shall provide adequate design measures to handle all predictable occurrences
resulting from weather, process upsets, or operational failures, or interruption of utilities. All
such features shall be provided unless exceptions are brought to Owner’s attention and a
specific agreement is reached to forego such measures.
1.10.4 The skid shall be designed and built to ensure that all the equipment along with
accessories, panel and piping are mounted suitably for convenient operation.
1.11 Safety
1.11.1 It is the intent of the Owner that operational hazards be reduced to a minimum. Contractor
shall use sound engineering judgment to complete an installation that will perform the
required function without compromising this aim.
1.11.2 All electrical devices shall meet the requirements for the area classification in which they
are installed.
1.11.3 All controls shall operate in a fail-safe mode.
1.11.4 Piping shall be arranged in a manner so as to avoid tripping or headroom problems. Piping
or tubing of insufficient mechanical strength for standing or hanging shall be protected from
personnel traffic.
1.11.5 All safety requirements and other safety regulations shall be complied with.
1.11.6 Factor of safety to be considered at all levels, i.e. design, installation and operation as per
standard requirement of OSHA, NEMA, IEC, etc.
1.11.7 Noise and vibration shall be minimized. Noise level of the running equipment shall not
exceed 85dBA at 1m distance from source.
2.1 The main codes and standards applicable for equipment or system are indicated in the
respective standard specification.

3.1 General
3.1.1 Raw bamboo handling package shall consist of raw bamboo log receiving and handling;
chipping, storage and feeding of chipped bamboo to fractionation process. The raw
bamboo arrives to the bio-refinery in trucks / rail wagons in three forms: round, flattened
and chipped. In all the cases they are coming to the same handling area.
3.1.2 Conveying system shall be capable to transfer the material at the design rate (as
mentioned in the Scope of Work Doc. No. B215-000-80-43-SOW-4505) from Bamboo
receipt up to Chip Silo and further to downstream fractionation section.
3.1.3 Tentative arrangement of the equipment / system associated with raw bamboo handling
package, is indicated in the Overall Layout of Raw Bamboo Handling Package (Drg. No.
B215-000-80-43-00001). The system shall be designed to receive the raw materials at
grade level and to transfer the same to the downstream digester package (Digester
package by others) at about 30 m above the Grade.
3.1.4 Electronic belt scales shall be provided on belt conveyors 0105-CB-0005, 0105-CB-0013 &
0105-CB-0014.
3.1.5 Maintenance facilities viz. electric wire rope hoist, chain pulley blocks etc. complete with
accessories and associated facilities such as Geared trolley, monorail beam etc. shall be
supplied wherever required for maintenance of Contractor’s supplied equipment.
3.1.6 Each shed shall have one no. floor cleaning chute connecting all floors.
3.1.7 Dust collection system shall be provided as per details below:

Chipping capacity is based on working form 2/7 where chipping is working seven days per
week and two 8 hour shifts per day.
3.3.7 Chipper 0105-SH-0002 (0105-SH-0003) is drum type with adequate number of knives. In-
feed system push the bamboo bundle against the cylinder and knives cut the bamboo logs
into the certain length of chips. Chipper shall be designed to produce chips of 25 mm
dimension. A f t e r cutting chips are led to the belt conveyor 0105- CB-0006.
3.4 Chip receiving and handling
3.4.1 Raw material (bamboo) will be received as chips. Chips transported by trucks are fed
directly to the chip receiving pocket 0105-TH-0001 (Approx. 5 m long, 5 m wide and 2m
deep). In the bottom of the chip receiving pocket there is a discharging screw system. The
number of screws may vary from one to three. Discharging screw/s feed chips to a belt
conveyor 0105-CB-0005 which feed them to a scalper screen (0105-SS-0001).
3.4.2 Scalper screen (0105-SS-0001) shall be a disc screen with large opening between discs.
Typically spacing between discs can vary from 40 to 80 millimetres. Purpose of the screen
is to separate large impurities as stones, metal pieces etc. from incoming chip flow.
Accepted chips go through the screen and rejected material is led near the screen into
the pile or to the container.
3.4.3 Chip flow from belt conveyor 0105-CB-0003/0004 from the chippers and accept flow from
scalper screen is led to the belt conveyor 0105-CB-0006. This conveyor conveys the
chips to a shuttle belt conveyor 0105-CB-0007 which feed the chips to the chip storage.
3.4.4 Online moisture analyzer shall be provided near feed section of belt conveyor (0105-CB-

0005) to check the moisture content of the chip received in chip receiving pocket.
3.5 Chip storage
3.5.1 The chip storage is longitudinal type and it has a triangle type cover round it. The feeding
shuttle belt conveyor (0150-CB-0007) is located in the top of the cover. Volume of the
storage is 26400 loose-m3 (tentatively 90m long X 50m wide) having approx. 5 days
storage of production.
3.5.2 The shuttle belt conveyors 0105-CB-0007 length is about half of the discharging area
length. This Conveyor shall move above the discharging area and drops the chips down in
one place at a time. When this place is full, conveyor shall move either about 0.5 - 1 meter
forward or back. When half of the storage is full, conveyor changes the rotation direction
and starts to fill the other side of the storage with the same method.
3.5.3 Screw Reclaimers 0105-CS-0002 and 0105-CS-0003 under the storage are discharging
chips to a chip screen feeding belt conveyor system. Typically both screws are working all
the time and both of them are discharging half of the needed amount of chips. The screws
are dimensioned in such a way that each screw can feed the required amount of chips to
the screening. Screws rotating speeds are adjustable and set point to the speed is given
from the level of the chip feeding silo 0105-TI-0001.
3.6 Chip screening
3.6.1 Chips are led from discharging screws via belt conveyors 0105-CB-0008A/B and 0105-CB-
0009 to a stone separator conveyor 0105-CB-0010.
3.6.2 The stone separator conveyor 0105-CB-0010 is a belt conveyor with an adjustable rising
angle. Chip flow from previous conveyor 0105-CB-0009 is fed to the beginning of the stone
separator conveyor. When the angle of the conveyor is suitable, stones and other heavier
pieces will bounce away from the conveyor and chip flow will continue to the screening.
Stone separator conveyor feed the chips to the belt conveyor 0105-CB-0011. This conveyor
feeds the chip flow to the chip screen 0105-SS-0002.

3.6.3 Cross belt Overband Magnetic Separator (0105-SM-0001) shall be provided on stone
separator conveyor 0105-CB-0010 for separation of metallic particles from chip.
3.6.4 Metal detector (Tag No. By Contractor) shall be provided on the stone separator conveyor,
downstream of the Magnetic Separator. This Metal Detector will give an alarm on detecting
metal so that the operator can stop the conveyor and remove metal manually.
3.6.5 In a gyratory chip screen (0105-SS-0002) there is a shaft in the middle of the screen. It
gives the box a freely vibrating circular motion on the horizontal plane. Typical amplitude is
50-60 mm. The chips are fed in a continuous flow to a feeding trough at the top of the
screen. From the trough the chips fall to upper deck. Oversize chips remain on the upper
deck and fall into the overflow trough at the discharge end to conveyor. Oversized chips
are fed to the shredder 0105-SH-0001 continuously by conveyor 0105-CB-0012A.
Shredder's rotating blades cut the oversized chips smaller. The processed chips are fed
back to screening (0105-SS-0002) by conveyor 0105-CB-0012B. Transfer of Oversized
chip from Chip screen to shredder shall be continuous with bypass provision.
3.6.6 Accepted chips are discharged over the edge of the middle screening decks to
2 conveyor 0105-CB-0013. Dust passes through all decks and collects on the bottom plate of
the screen.for removal by conveyor 0105-CB-0007 to a separate dustbin near the
screen house. The dustbin can be loaded to a truck.
3.6.7 Dust collected on the bottom plate of the screen shall be handled in either of the following
ways
a) Dust shall be transferred to consecutive conveyor (0105-CB-0013) and returned back
2 to conveying system.
b) Dust shall be collected in closed bin by dust belt conveyor (0105-CB-0012) then
transferred by truck.
Contractor shall provide both the above arrangements along with bin for dust collection.

operation of Screw reclaimer shall be PLC based and shall have provision to operate on
automatic as well as manual mode. The screws are dimensioned in such a way that each
screw can feed the required amount of chips to the screening. The reclaim rate shall be
variable by means of an operational variable speed screw drive. Screws rotating speeds
are adjustable and set point to the speed is given from the level of the chip feeding silo
0105-TI-0001.
4.4.2 Each of screw reclaimer shall be moving on rail such that the reclaimer can transfer chip
from chip storage into the belt conveyor (0105-CB-0008A/B). The travel speed adjusts
automatically in relation to the degree of chip packing, increasing in loose material and
decreasing to break up hard packed material. Being longitudinal type chip storage
(tentatively 90m long X 50m wide) the screw reclaimer shall be designed to retrieve chip
from any point of chip storage. Type of screw reclaimer shall be selected meeting the
above requirement.
4.4.3 The screw reclaimer shall be stable during the operations with the shuttle belt conveyor
feeding in different positions of chip storage and belt conveyor (0105-CB-0008A/B)
conveying chip to downstream conveyor (0105-CB-0009).
4.4.4 The Screw reclaimer shall feed in to the reclaiming hopper through which the chips would
be transferred to the downstream belt conveyor.
4.4.5 The Screw reclaimers shall be operated from the control desk in the Main Control Room.
The control system shall be so designed that it shall be possible to carry out the reclaiming
operation either automatically or manually, in an interlocked manner from the control desk.
In automatic mode of control, the different drives of the equipment shall start automatically
in successive sequence, while in manual interlocked mode of operation, the drives can be
started and stopped by pressing their respective start and stop push buttons in a
sequentially interlocked manner. Separate PLCs will control its local operation with
simultaneous communication with Plant DCS for start permissive, alarm reporting, trip
indications etc.
Necessary provisions shall be made to interlock the reversible shuttle conveyor and the
screw reclaimers with the incoming and outgoing conveyors. It shall be possible to start
the incoming conveyor only when there is a “running” feedback from reversible shuttle
conveyor (in the event of stacking/filling operation). In the event of reclaiming operation,
the interlock shall be provided to start the screw reclaimers only when there is a “running”
feedback from outgoing conveyor.
4.5 Hydraulic Power Unit
Following specifications shall be considered for Hydraulic power Units, wherever
applicable in the system/package.
4.5.1 The hydraulic power unit shall be of proven design, heavy industrial duty type and suitable
for electrical area classification specified elsewhere in the bid document.
4.5.2 Hydraulic power unit shall consist of two (2) installed positive displacement pumps with
their electric motors arranged for mutual sparing. Each pump shall be designed for 100%
capacity. Valves, piping and interlocks shall be provided to permit operation of equipment
fed by the hydraulic power unit with any of the two (2) pumps.
4.5.3 The hydraulic power unit shall be delivered completely preassembled and skid mounted,
with bulkhead tubing connections, flanged piping connections and electrical junction boxes
at limit of base plate.
4.5.4 Reservoir shall be stainless steel construction. Reservoir shall be furnished with an
electrical heating coil for heating the oil prior to start-up in cold weather. Electric heater
shall be flanged type.
4.5.5 Filter shall be provided with differential pressure switch/transmitter across all filters.
4.5.6 Contractor shall provide satisfactory PTR for selected HPU vendor for the similar service.
4.6 Belt Conveyors
4.6.1 Belt conveyors shall be designed as per EIL standard specification No. 6-47-0001.
(However CEMA is also acceptable for Belt conveyor sizing and Power calculation) and
other Indian / International standards referred therein. The list and brief parameters of the
belt conveyors considered within the scope of this package shall be as per the Scope of
Work and Data sheets attached with the Tender document.
4.6.2 The following requirements are over and above the same specified in EIL standard
specification No. 6-47-0001 and other Indian / International standards referred therein.
However, in case of any conflict between the specifications, the most stringent one shall be
followed.
4.6.3 Walkways of minimum 1000mm one side and 750mm on other side shall be provided for
every conveyor. Covered gallery shall be provided all along the belt conveyors. All
walkways shall be provided with chequered plates. All transfer tower floors shall be
provided with chequered plates of suitable strength. Toe guards shall be provided on
walkways inside galleries on both sides of walkways.
4.6.4 Resistance due to impact pad/ slider bed, if applicable, shall be calculated according to
latest edition of “Belt Conveyors for Bulk Materials” published by CEMA. However friction
factor from impact pad / slider bed shall be considered as minimum 0.8.
4.6.5 Peripheral Force required on Drive Pulley and kW rating of Motor shall be calculated in
accordance with IS: 11592, to which any pullout resistance due to column height of
material in the hopper above the skirt plates shall be added.
Motors shall be sized to be non-overloading over the entire capacity range.
4.6.6 Slopes of conveyors, wherever applicable, shall not exceed 15 degree depending on the
lump size and other governing factors. The conveyors shall be horizontal at the feed point
as far as possible.
Only in case of inevitable circumstances, Conveyor angle above 15 degree may be
accepted subject to Client/EIL review. In such cases, the decision of Owner/EIL shall be
final and binding on the contractor without any cost and time implications. However, in
such cases, the feeding zone shall not be at more than 15 degree slope.
4.6.7 Suitable hold back devices for preventing running back of the conveyor belt in case
conveyor being stopped in loaded condition due to power failure or during normal
operational delays shall be provided to give positive protection. The hold back shall
instantaneously engage without shock and be capable of protecting equipment and
personnel. It shall be released instantly when power resumes or delay is removed. Hold
back devices shall be integral with gear box.
4.6.8 All over-ground and overhead conveyors shall be located in suitably enclosed bridge
structure. The conveyor bridge shall have permanently colour coated steel sheeting covers
on roof and both sides, properly screwed or locked to steel structure as required.
4.6.9 Top and bottom cover thicknesses shall be 6mm and 3mm (minimum) respectively.
4.6.10 The idler rolls shall be made from ERW tubes of nominal 4.5mm thickness, finished on the
outside with edges rounded to prevent the damage of the belt.

4.6.11 Carrying idler frames shall be designed to prevent any accumulation of material, which
shall hinder free rotation of the idlers. The frames shall not have any protruding parts liable
to damage the belt.
4.6.12 All transition idlers shall be of three drop-in type, in-line identical and interchangeable rolls
with fabricated bracket.
4.6.13 Impact idler rolls wherever provided shall consist of atleast six (6) numbers of closely
spaced resilient natural rubber discs having thickness not less than 25mm and durometer
hardness of 55 to 65 shore, scale “A”.
4.6.14 Impact idlers shall be able to withstand the heavy impact of material loaded onto the belt
conveyor. These idler sets shall be provided at all the loading points and the spacing shall
not exceed 500mm.
4.6.15 All return idlers shall be of flat type.
4.6.16 The spacing of the return idlers shall be based on belt sag, which shall not exceed 2%.
However, the maximum spacing shall not be more than 3000 mm in any case.
4.6.17 The training idler shall be pivot mounted on self aligning swiveling base having dust proof
lubrication.
4.6.18 Two (2) Nos. guide rollers at each end shall be provided to maintain proper alignment of
belt. These assemblies shall be provided at every 10 m spacing. Return training idlers shall
be provided at every 30m spacing.
4.6.19 All drive pulleys shall be provided with 20mm diamond groove rubber lagging. All non-drive
pulleys shall be lagged with minimum 10 mm plain natural rubber.
4.6.20 The minimum shaft diameter at bearing shall not be less than 50mm. Shafts shall not
protrude from the pillow blocks where required and in such cases end cover shall be
provided for the pillow block. The pulley shaft shall be designed such that deflection of
shaft does not exceed 1 mm per metre length of shaft between bearing centres. The
diameter of shaft at bearing shall be standardized to minimize the types of bearings. All
bearings used in the conveyor pulleys shall be selected one size higher than the required
size by calculation.
4.6.21 All pulley assemblies shall be tested by X-ray or ultrasonic test methods for detection of
cracks.
4.6.22 Two stage external belt cleaners comprising of primary and secondary belt cleaners shall
be provided immediately after the discharge pulley on the return belt side.
4.6.23 External two-stage belt cleaning system shall consist of external primary and secondary
scrapers of suitable design to clean the belt on its return run before the carrying belt side
comes in contact with any snub and bend pulley in all belt conveyors.
4.6.24 External primary and secondary scrapers shall be of multiple sprung blade type. It shall be
mounted such that the blades are inclined against the direction of belt travel with minimum
tracking. Individual blades shall be bolted to a sprung element and shall be made of
suitable wear resistant material.
4.6.25 One No. V-Type internal scraper shall be provided before the return side of the belt enters
the lapping zone of the tail pulley.
4.6.26 The V- angle of the plow shall not be less than 60° and the apex shall point out towards the
discharge end of the conveyor. This scraper shall be provided with necessary stoppers to
prevent the metal strips holding the rubber blades coming into contact with belt due to wear
of the rubber blades.
4.6.27 The minimum slope of the chute shall be 65 deg with horizontal plane and all chutes shall
be designed such that build-up of materials does not take place in the chute. Minimum
valley angle of 60 deg shall be provided with respect to the horizontal plane. All head snub
pulleys shall be taken inside the chutes.
4.6.28 For all discharge chutes, SAILHARD/SAILMA/TISCRAL liners of minimum 12mm thickness
shall be used. Chute plate thickness shall be minimum 10mm.
4.6.29 The discharge hoods shall be constructed from plates of thickness not less than 6 mm.
4.6.30 The construction of chutes shall be in convenient sections with flanged joints so that the
same can be erected and dismantled easily. All flange joints and bolt holes shall be
properly sealed with suitable gasket of minimum 3mm to prevent leakage of dust and air.
4.6.31 Loading zones of all conveyors shall be provided with skirt boards.
4.6.32 Skirt board shall be fabricated from suitably lined (SAILHARD/SAILMA/TISCRAL liners of
minimum 12mm thickness shall be used) carbon steel plates of minimum 10mm thick.
4.6.33 Rubber curtain shall be provided at the end of the skirt board to minimize generation of
dust.
4.6.34 Skirt boards shall be provided with bolted type cover plates of minimum 3.15mm thickness.
4.6.35 If gravity take up is provided, the take-up tower shall be fabricated from structural steel with
necessary rope sheaves. The tower shall be provided with suitable safety cage for a height
of 2.5 mtr form ground level made of expanded metal sheets. All the necessary
maintenance platform, access Staircase from ground level etc. shall be provided.
4.6.36 The bottom of the gravity take up tower shall be provided with a sand pit so that if the
counterweight falls due to breakage of belt/rope, it shall transfer the impact to the sand
cushion.
4.6.37 If required, the idler brackets at the concave/convex curve shall be provided with the
required shims to ensure a smooth curve of the belt line.
4.6.38 All bearings shall be of antifriction type.
4.6.39 The drive assembly shall consist of the drive motor, Fluid or pin bush coupling (as
applicable), reduction gear box with integral hold back (if required), flexible coupling and
brake, if necessary, as per requirement. The drive units shall be selected based on design
conveyor capacity.
4.6.40 The gear reducer housing shall be of cast steel or welded steel construction, of modular
design, totally enclosed, stress relieved and machined to form rigid, oil tight and dust proof
enclosure for the gears and the bearings. The cover shall be split type at shaft center-line
so that top half can be removed for inspection and repair without disturbing the bottom half.
The gear reducer shall have oil filling cap, breath vents, a visible oil level indicator,
dipsticks and easily accessible drain plug.
4.6.41 The gear box assembly shall be designed for minimum operating L10 life of 50000 hours.
4.6.42 All the bearing installations shall have standard Plummer blocks. Plummer blocks shall be
sourced from approved bearing manufacturer only.
4.6.43 All welded steel construction common base frame shall be provided for the complete drive
assembly (i.e. motor, reducer and couplings).
4.6.44 Brakes shall be provided in belt conveyors where stopping distance is to be regulated, i.e.
the requirement of brake shall be governed by coasting time considerations.
4.6.45 Brake shall be of robust design and each brake shall be able to stop the drive motor in
adverse conditions in the event of power failure. Brake for conveyors shall be Electro
Hydraulic thruster type.
4.6.46 Fluid coupling shall be used as high speed coupling whenever the motor rating exceeds 30
kW. In case fluid coupling is used, selection of fluid coupling should be on the motor rating
as per manufacturer's recommendation. Further service factor is not required to be
considered.
4.7 Belt Scales
4.7.1 Suitable electronic type belt scales shall be provided in the conveyor system, based on the
belt width of the relevant conveyors.
4.7.2 The belt scale shall be complete in all respects with weigh frame, machined idlers, speed
sensor, hermetically sealed and temperature compensated load cell and all necessary
screened and control cables from the field to the weighing panel located in the Main
Control Room.
4.7.3 The belt scales shall be provided with auto correction facility to set right any deviation from
actual rate of conveying over the pre-set /rated capacity. The accuracy of weighment shall
be ±0.5% or better on the actual conveying rate.
4.7.4 It shall be possible to know the instantaneous as well as totalized rate of flow of material
over a period of time in the weighing panel.
4.8 Online Electromagnetic Separator
4.8.1 The electromagnetic separator complete with tramp iron box, tramp chute, access ladders,
handrails and all necessary electrics shall be hung from two nos. of monorail beams by
suitable fixtures and held by an electric hoist of adequate capacity.
4.8.2 The electro-magnet shall be suitable to lift tramp iron pieces of weight upto a maximum of
25 kg, with an operating height of 400mm, from the bottom of the maximum burden depth
of material being conveyed by the conveyor.
4.8.3 The magnet shall be of bolted construction and provided with non-magnetic faceplate. The
electromagnet shall be fabricated from high permeable mild steel and shall be totally
enclosed, dust-proof and of bolted type for easy maintenance. The magnet shall be air-
cooled and the magnet coil shall be made of copper with “H” Class of Insulation. Provision
for ease of access to the electromagnet shall be ensured. There shall be a fixed platform
with necessary access ladders and handrail.
4.8.4 The design of the electromagnetic separator shall be such that tramp metal pieces do not
fall back onto the material stream being conveyed. Contractor shall note that the
electromagnetic separator shall be energized once the belt conveyor starts at no-load and
will remain so continuously till power to the conveyor is cut-off.
4.8.5 The portion of the conveyor technological structure and discharge chute coming in the field
of the electromagnet shall be made of non-magnetic material.
4.9 Reversible Shuttle Belt Conveyor
4.9.1 The reversible belt conveyor shall be designed to include all items and accessories as in
normal belt conveyors detailed in this specification along with necessary reversing drive
arrangement. However, online direction change of belt conveyor is not permitted. Direction
of belt conveyor shall be decided by selecting source and destination point of chip storage
by operator after stopping of related conveying system.
4.9.2 The belt conveyor shall be complete in all respects with necessary belting, impact idlers,
head/drive, tail pulleys, screw take-up arrangement at the tail pulley, drive unit consisting of

geared motor and flexible coupling, internal and external scrapers, all required
technological structures like frames, short posts, stringer channels, tie angles and bracings,
safety devices like pull cord, belt sway and zero speed switch.
4.9.3 All belting shall be with oil resistant cover grade. The belt shall have a minimum factor of
safety as recommended by the belt manufacturer. The maximum working tension of the
belt shall not exceed 80 % of allowable working tension for the belt.
4.9.4 Contractor to ensure that the full column height of the material on top of belt conveyor shall
be considered while performing the drive power calculation.
4.9.5 Peripheral Force required on Drive Pulley and kW rating of Motor shall be calculated in
accordance with IS: 11592, to which any pullout resistance due to column height of
material in the hopper above the skirt plates shall be added.
4.9.6 Motor kW rating shall be suitable to restart the belt conveyor under fully loaded condition.
Motors shall be sized to be non-overloading over the entire capacity range.
4.9.7 All mechanical components shall generally be similar to the belt conveyors and shall
conform to the General considerations for belt conveyors given in this document.
4.10 Handling Facilities
4.11 Lubrication Facilities
4.11.1 The Contractor shall include in his offer, all necessary lubrication systems required for the
equipment and furnish the relevant details.
4.11.2 The Contractor shall furnish a schedule giving all the information such as component
requiring lubrication, quantity per fill, frequency of changing the lubricants, type of
lubricants etc. along with schematic lubrication arrangement, post order.
4.12 Dust Suppression System
Dust suppression system shall be provided as per specification attached elsewhere in the
bid package.
4.13 Drainage Requirement
Contractor shall design and do detail engineering of Drainage system however, its
construction at site shall be by Others. Drainage system (By OTHERS) shall be provided
2 for bamboo receiving pocket, Chipper House 1 & 2, chip storage area, bamboo feed
handling area to collect the drain water from respective area and shall be sent to settling
chamber. All chip fines collected through the drain shall settle in the settling chamber and
the clear water to be routed back to the designated point at package battery limit.
Contractor shall provide suitable arrangement to dispose the settled chip fines. All the
collecting drain as well as the settling chamber shall be covered so as to avoid any rain
water going into the drain/ settling chamber. Also refer structural specification attached
elsewhere in the bid package.
4.14 Ventilation System
4.14.1 Forced Ventilation with axial fan with louver shutter & bird Screen and associated duct
work to match air-flow rate based on 20 air changes/ hour shall be provided for the
conveyor pit under the Bamboo chip storage shed (Tentative Pit Dimensions: 90m Long X
3m Wide X 2.5m Deep).
4.15 Material Handling Equipment/Facility
4.15.1 Type, quantity and capacity of Material Handling Equipment shall be decided during
detailed engineering based on Material handling facilities study that shall be carried out by
Contractor based on Engineering Design Basis/Philosophy, taking in to account the

selected equipment size & weight and the same shall be submitted to ABRPL/EIL for
approval.
For site testing of material handling equipment, purchaser shall provide the test load. The
contractor shall make his own arrangements for shifting of test loads available at various
locations inside the plant, to the erection place where load testing will be carried out for the
material handling equipment.
4.15.2 There shall be adequate number of pendant operated electric hoists / CP Block
(considering minimum pulling effort) as necessary for handling and maintenance of all
equipment. The hoists shall be suitable for operation from the respective platforms.
4.15.3 Up to 16 MT capacity Electric Wire Rope Hoist shall be as per IS 3938. For capacity above
16 MT, Electric hoist shall be manufacturer's standard based on satisfactory Proven Track
Record.
4.15.4 The capacity of the Electric Hoist / Chain Pulley Block shall be decided based on heaviest
equipment to be handled during maintenance plus design margin of 10 % as a minimum.
4.15.5 The minimum capacity of chain pulley blocks with monorail shall be weight of the largest
components to be handled plus design margin of 10 % as a minimum. Wherever two chain
pulley blocks are required, each of 75% capacity of the total weight shall be provided.
4.15.6 For handling counter-weights of conveyors, geared trolley mounted chain pulley blocks are
to be considered irrespective of the weight and lift.
4.15.7 Electrically operated Hoist with trolley will be generally provided for handling equipment /
component weighing 5 MT or above and / or lift more than 5m or where frequency of
maintenance/operation is relatively high.
4.15.8 Chain pulley blocks of standard capacities shall be provided. CP Blocks shall be of
detachable type suitable for mounting on trolleys of same rating/capacities.
4.15.9 All Chain Pulley Blocks shall be spark resistant construction irrespective of hazardous area
classifications.
4.15.10 As a minimum, following sheds/areas shall be provided with Electric Hoists for
maintenance purpose.

inspection procedure shall include checking the major dimension and verification of
materials of construction (through mill test reports etc. which shall be made available by the
vendor of all major components). Vendor shall furnish (with the equipment) material
certification for major components. Minimum requirement shall be as per ITP attached with
the bid package.
5.2 After assembly of each unit, it shall be subjected to tests as per the manufacturer’s
standard test procedure. This should include a functional test of the smooth running of the
equipment. The functional test may be witnessed by Owner/EIL at Vendor’s shop.
Contractor shall furnish necessary notice for witnessing shop tests to Owner/EIL in due
course. If dismantling is required for improvement of performance in the tests, the initial test
shall not be acceptable and the final test must be done after corrections are made.
5.3 Acceptance of shop tests shall not constitute a waiver of requirements to meet the field
performance under the specific operating conditions nor shall inspection by purchaser or
his representative relieve the Contractor of his responsibilities in any way.
5.4 Generally Tests shall be conducted as per relevant standards as applicable for each and
every equipment/item.
5.5 Contractor shall submit Quality Assurance (QA) procedure before commencement of
fabrication for review. Approved QA procedure shall form the basis for equipment
inspection
5.6 Contractor to also comply with the Inspection and testing as per clauses mentioned in the
Standard Specification for equipment attached with the bid package.
6.2.7 Contractor shall demonstrate re-starting of conveyors under loaded belt conditions for load
not exceeding the rated load.
6.2.8 Commissioning certificate shall be issued as soon as the unit establishes cumulative 48
hours of trouble free operation on load. For calculating cumulative 48 hours of operation,

uninterrupted operation of minimum 6 hours per shift shall be considered.
6.2.9 Preliminary operational period of two (2) months after commissioning shall be considered
as the stabilization period. Once the system is stabilized and attains a minimum of 15 days
of trouble free operation, supplier shall submit notice for PG test. Submission of all as-built
documents and drawings and liquidation of all check list points shall be considered as a
pre-requisite for serving notice for PG test.
6.2.10 Once the notice is served, PG test shall be conducted at a mutually agreed time within six
(6) months from the date of serving notice for PG test.
6.2.11 Capacity shall be determined based on the electronic weigh scale readings duly calibrated
prior to the PG test. Measuring tolerance shall be as per the accuracy limit of the
instrument.
6.2.12 Duration of the test shall be a continuous period of 6 hours/day for 4 consecutive days.
During the PG test, system shall be operated at rated capacity. Acceptance of the system
shall be based on its capability to handle chip at its rated capacity for duration of 6 hours
(continuous) without any spillage or undue vibration & noise.
6.2.13 If the system fails to achieve PG parameters, Contractor shall carry out necessary
modification at his own cost till the rated capacity is achieved within mutually agreed time
period in consultation with ABRPL/Consultant from the date of failure of PG test and a
second PG test shall be organized.

Recommended spares and their quantities should take into account related factors of
equipment reliability, effect of equipment downtime upon production or safety, cost of parts
and availability of vendor's service facilities around the proposed location of equipment.
8.4 Special Tools and Tackles
Contractor shall provide One (1) set of new and unused special tools and tackles as
required, for day to day operation and maintenance of the offered equipment / system.
These Special tools and tackles shall be supplied, as per OEM (Original Equipment
Manufacturer) recommendation, along with the main equipment and shall include minimum
Special Tools & Tackles as listed in Cl. 1.2.10 of Scope of Supply / Work for Raw Bamboo
Handling Package (Doc. No – B215-000-80-43-SW-4505).
Contractor shall include the cost of the special tools and tackles in his quoted Lump
Sum/base price of package.
8.5 Proper coding and referencing of spare parts shall be done so that later identification with
appropriate equipment is facilitated.
8.6 Commissioning spares, Mandatory Spares and Special tools and tackles shall be
separately packed with separate packing list. Packing case shall be clearly marked as
Commissioning spares / Mandatory Spares / Special tools and tackles
ANNEXURE-1
(JOB SPECIFICATIONS FOR SILO)
1. This specification covers general requirement for the design, engineering, materials,
fabrication, workmanship, inspection, testing, supply, and erection at site of Silo in accordance
with this specification & Codes listed in the bid document.
2. The requirements outlined in this specification & its attachments are minimum and shall be
carried out for quality assurance and for job records. However these shall not prohibit the
Contractor from offering the best available technology & additional requirements based on his
experience of supply of such equipment. This specification shall not be considered limiting & it
shall be Contractor's responsibility to comply with all the requirements of the package on to
which it is annexed. CODES FOR SILOS (as applicable):
The Indian & International Codes applicable to the design and construction of the Storage
Facility Silos shall be as follows:
2.1 Design Specifications:

2.2 Construction Specifications:
In case of any conflict or inconsistency in the provisions of the applicable Indian Standards
or codes and International Standards or codes, the Indian Standards or codes shall apply.
In the absence of any specific provision in this Agreement, the following standards shall
apply in order of priority:
(i) Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS)
(ii) Relevant Standards or codes as applicable in the United States of America or the
European Union or Singapore such as
AISC - American Institute of Steel Construction
AISI - American Iron and Steel Institute
ASABE - American Society of Agricultural & Biological Engineers
ASCE - American Society of Civil Engineers
ASTM - American Society for Testing and Materials
ICC - International Code Council
OSHA - Occupational Safety and Health Administration
(iii)Any other specifications/standards/codes proposed by the Concessionaire and reviewed
by the Independent Expert.
The latest version of the specified codes and standards which were notified/
published at least 60 (sixty) days prior to the Bid Date in respect of this
Agreement shall apply.
In case of any inconsistency or conflict between the provisions of this
Agreement and the applicable BIS Standards or Codes, the provisions of this
Agreement shall apply.
The Storage Facility, including its systems and equipment, shall conform to
Applicable Laws, Applicable Permits, provisions of this Agreement and Good
Industry Practice.
3. DEVIATIONS
Deviations are not acceptable to Bid. However, deviation with intent to improve upon the
equipment life or performance may be discussed and settled in pre-bid stage and it shall be
Client/EIL’s prerogative to accept them or not. Post Bid deviation is not allowed.
For successful Contractor any deviation at the execution stage, which becomes unavoidable,
shall be submitted for Client/EIL approval and Contractor shall not proceed with such
deviation till acceptance of deviation by Client/EIL Time taken/delay, if any, in processing of
deviation permit or its rejection shall be solely to Contractor’s account. Client /EIL decision in
this regard shall be firm and binding on the Contractor.
4. DESIGN
The following loading conditions & effects shall be considered while designing the various
components of a Silo & Silo walls, compression ring, curb angle stiffeners & bottom cone etc.
4.1 Pressure Loading
Pressure exerted by the stored chip on Silo walls shall be considered.
4.2 Dead Load/Superimposed Loads
a. Dead load of silo, structure and any equipment mounted on it such as temperature
cables etc.
b. Superimposed loads due to material handling equipment (such as screw reclaimer),
ladders and platforms etc.
c. Horizontal load/pressure acting on the side walls, vertical load/pressure acting on
cross sectional area & frictional load/pressure on the side walls at every point of
shell and cone caused due to stored product during all conditions shall be calculated
& considered for design.
4.3 Operating Loads
Due consideration shall be given to the following while designing the silo for operating
conditions:
a. Normal filling and emptying.
b. Homogenization/Recirculation
c. Arching of stored product
d. Discharge devices such as Screw reclaimer etc. & Load exerted by temperature
Cables during emptying of chip.
4.4 Combination of loads:
During design of silo, worst combination of loads & effects shall be considered. Analysis of
stress shall be carried out in erection, operation and testing conditions. Wind and seismic
loads need not be considered acting simultaneously. Other loadings from direct & indirect
sources shall be considered, which may be present & required to be considered for structural
safety of the silo.

scaled ruler for verification of the volume of chip stored in a Silo at any point of time.
9. ACCESSORIES REQUIRED FOR OPERATION & MAINTENANCE OF SILO
The Silo shall be provided with following accessories required for easy operation and
maintenance
Approach step ladder system installed in spiral around silo (2 ft Min. width)
A straight Step Roof Ladder covering all roof platforms (2 ft Min. width)
Internal ladder Accessible from roof to enter in to Silo
3 full Platforms shall be provided on roof (starting of roof, mid of roof & peak of roof). A
minimum 6 feet diameter platform shall be provided on peak platform. Platforms shall
be provided with Handrails.
Roof manhole, Shell Manhole on the first ring of silo
Vents with flap gates
Floor screen of silos shall be of flat design for easy clean out of chips.
Roof panels to have corrugated profile so that the overlapping panels do not have any
gap in between.
10. DOCUMENTATION
Design calculations, stress analysis, FEA (if required) and mechanical engineering data
sheets/fabrication drawings shall be submitted for CLIENT/EIL review. Contractor shall also
furnish additionally generated data for detailed design and design formulas used along with
references for review. Comments, if any, shall be complied with. Review of documents shall
not relieve the Contractor/ Vendor of his responsibilities to supply equipment as per
requisition.
Vendor to provide loading data for design of foundation and technological structure &
calculation thereof.
Master document index with submission date must be submitted within 15 days after award of
contract. Following order of submission of document must be adhered to:
a) Master document index with schedule of submissions.
b) Mechanical design calculations & FEA (if required).
c) Mechanical engineering data sheets.
d) Detailed drawings/documents.
Mechanical Engineering Data sheets/Fabrication drawings
Mechanical engineering datasheets/fabrication drawings shall include the following as a
minimum:
a) Design Data
b) Complete dimensions; size, location & orientation of Accessories & supports etc.
c) Material of construction of all components along with their sizes and thickness.
d) Any specific feature, requirements relating to the equipment.
Silo Vendor documents must be reviewed & approved by Contractor before submission.
Unchecked document without revision clearly marked shall not be reviewed. Successive
review of the same document shall apply only with respect to comments on the previous
submission. All documents shall be legible & of good quality. Illegible documents shall be
returned without review & any delay in review of such documents shall be to Contractor’s
account.
11. INSPECTION
For the equipment stage wise & final inspection shall be by a reputed third party
inspection agency. Inspection shall be carried out only after drawings are approved by
EIL.
Contractor shall carry out various tests as per applicable codes/standards. Any or all
test shall be witnessed by CLIENT/EIL.
Silos shall be subjected to inspection by CLIENT/EIL or third party who shall have
access to inspect the equipment at any stage during manufacture. During inspection,
material certificates, shop test data, certificates for bought out components and other
relevant information shall be furnished and testing done as required so as to ascertain
that the specifications and quality is complied with.
Inspection test plan shall comply with all requirements specified or enclosed herein. It
must specify various stages of inspection. Any comments by CLIENT/EIL shall be
complied with without time & cost implication.
Silo Roof & Shell shall be checked for water leak proof by Hydrant @ 5 kg/cm2.
12. GUARANTEES
Contractor shall guarantee the sizing, mechanical design, materials, workmanship, and
performance of complete silos including all components, sub-assemblies, bought outs
etc.
Contractor shall guarantee that all the materials used in the equipment are new and
have been submitted to regular acceptance procedure & are free from any defect
regarding quality, form and appearance and compliance to various technical
requirements of this specification.

1.0 GENERAL
This specification outlines the minimum requirements under which the manufacturer shall
design, manufacture, test and supply the Dust Collection System: Bag filter type, complete
with all accessories.
2.1 Latest editions of the following codes and standards shall govern:

and SPC-Specification
2.2 Other international standards may also be acceptable subject to their being equivalent or
superior to those listed above, with prior approval of Purchaser.
2.3 For provisions not covered by the above codes & standards, applicable good engineering
practices and norms of the industry shall be applicable.
2.4 National Laws and statutory provisions together with any local bylaws for the state wherein
package is required to be installed shall be complied with.
3.1 Duty
3.1.1 Dust collection system shall be suitable for 24 hours/day continuous operation. The system
shall be suitable for maintaining clean and dust-free environment around the dust generating
areas.
3.1.2 The dust collection system shall be provided with PLC based control to interlock and
monitor different control parameters, when specified.
3.1.3 Design of dust collection system shall be as per ACGIH norms.
3.1.4 Balancing dampers shall be provided in each branch for balancing purpose.
3.6.4 Minimum thickness of carbon steel ducts shall be 3 mm. They shall be made from CS sheets
conforming to IS:1079. Dust collection hoods shall be suitably stiffened.
3.6.5 Air tight access openings or clean-outs shall be provided at regular intervals to suit layout.
3.6.6 All duct work shall be complete with supports. Support spacing shall be selected according
to the duct diameter.
3.6.7 Smooth pipe bends of radius not less than 5 times the diameter shall be provided. Miter
bends are acceptable for duct diameter of 250 mm and above. Miter bends shall be made of
minimum 5 sections.
3.6.8 All branches shall enter the main duct at an angle of preferably 22Y2°, but in any case not
exceeding 45°.
3.6.9 Exhaust stack shall be provided with the bird protection screen and suitable rain protection
cowl. Stack shall be self-supporting type unless otherwise specified.
3.6.10 Height of stack shall be 3 meters (minimum) above highest elevation of plant building and
shall conform to local statutory requirement.
3.6.11 Suction hoods at various collection points and dampers shall be provided along with the
duct.
3.6.12 Pressure tappings shall be provided in the duct at suitable locations.
4.1 Equipment shall be subjected to stagewise expediting, inspection and testing at vendor's/
sub-vendor's works by Purchaser/its authorised inspection agency. Vendor shall submit
Quality Assurance (QA) plans before commencement of fabrication. Approved QA plans
shall form basis for equipment inspection.
4.2 Testing at Works
4.2.1 Vendor shall perform tests and inspection necessary to ensure that the material and
workmanship conform to the requirement of this specification.
4.2.2 Vendor shall furnish test certificates to show that the equipment meets the performance
requirements. Manufacturer's test certificates shall be furnished for all bought out items
4.2.3 Fittings, valves, instruments and other accessories like filters etc. shall be duly tested and
manufacturer's test certificates shall be produced. Hydrostatic/pneumatic testing for valve
body strength, tightness of seat and tightness of back sealing shall also be carried.
4.2.4 All Positive Displacement Blowers and Centrifugal Blowers shall be performance tested at
manufacturer's shop in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
4.2.5 Any or all the tests, at Purchaser's option, shall be witnessed by Purchaser/its authorised
inspection agency. However, such inspection shall be regarded as check-up and shall in no
way absolve the vendor of his responsibility.

4.4 Performance Testing and Guarantees
4.4.1 A field performance test shall be conducted by the vendor to demonstrate the guaranteed
performance after commissioning in accordance with test procedure and report to be
prepared as per EIL Std. No. 7-76-0103.
The procedure of performance testing shall be submitted for Purchaser's review and shall be
mutually agreed between the Purchaser and the vendor.
4.4.2 The following shall be guaranteed and demonstrated during the performance testing:

5.1 Surface preparation and painting shall be done as per Project specific painting Specification.
5.2 Stainless steel surfaces, both inside and outside, shall be pickled and passivated.
53 Machined and bearing surfaces shall be protected with varnish or thick coat of grease.
6.1 All packaging shall be done in such a manner as to reduce the volume. The equipment may
be dismantled into major components, suitable for shipment and shall be properly packed to
provide adequate protection during shipment. All assemblies shall be properly match
marked for site erection.
6.2 Attachments, spare parts of the equipment and small items shall be packed separately in
wooden-cases. Each item shall be appropriately tagged with identification of main
equipment, item denomination and reference number of the respective assembly drawing.
6.3 Detailed packing list in water-proof envelope shall be inserted in the package together with
equipment.
6.4 Each equipment shall have an identification plate giving salient equipment data, make, year
of manufacture, equipment number, name of manufacturer etc.
6.5 Vendor shall furnish procedure for prolonged storage of supplied equipment/ material at site.
7.1 Vendor shall submit list of spare parts with recommended quantities and itemised prices for
first two years of operation of the equipment. Proper coding and referencing of spare parts
shall be done so that later identification with appropriate equipment is facilitated.
7.2 Recommended spares and their quantities should take into account related factors of
equipment reliability, effect of equipment downtime upon production or safety, cost of parts
and availability of vendor's service facilities around the proposed location of equipment.
73 Vendor shall also submit a list of commissioning spares with quantities. The commissioning
spares shall be sufficient for trouble free commissioning of the system at site. Any
commissioning spares required during commissioning, over and above, the commissioning
spares supplied, shall be made available by the vendor without any cost and time implication
to Purchaser. If for any reason, during commissioning, vendor needs to utilise spares from 2
years' operational spares, the same shall be replenished by vendor within a reasonable time
without any cost implication to Purchaser. Any unused commissioning spares shall be
handed over to owner.

1.0 GENERAL
This specification outlines the minimum requirements under which the manufacturer shall
design, manufacture, test and supply the Rotary Valve, complete with all accessories.
2.1 Latest editions of the, following codes and standards shall govern:

practices and norms of the industry shall be applicable.

package is required to be installed shall be complied with.
3.1 The rotary valve shall be designed to prevent jamming, smearing, shearing or degradation of
the product.
3.2 The housing shall be cast and the rotor may be fabricated from material as specified in the
data sheet. Material of construction of parts coming in contact with the product handled
shall be as specified in the data sheet.
3.3 The rotary valve shall be provided with flanged inlet and outlets. Circular flanges shall be
sized and drilled as per ASME B 16.5, 150 lb rating, unless otherwise specified.
3.4 If required, purging with compressed air/ inert gas shall be provided to flush the area
between the seal ring and end plate to keep it free of product dust.
3.5 If required, adjustable strips shall be provided on the tips of rotor blades, to adjust
clearance between the rotor and the housing. The wear strip shall be decided based on wear
behavior and may be made from Teflon or carbides.
3.6 The vendor shall indicate the quantity of leakage and a curve showing the leakage for
various differential pressures.
3.7 The stuffing boxes shall be provided in the end covers for shaft sealing and shall be purged
with air/inert gas as specified in data sheet.
3.8 The rotary valve shall have a fixed speed drive unless otherwise specified. The speed shall
be selected by the vendor and the same shall not be more than 80% of the maximum
recommended speed indicated by the manufacturer. In case of variable capacity requirement
the rotary valve speed may be varied through variable frequency drive motor.
3.9 For rotor volume selection, considered volumetric efficiency shall not exceed 75%. While
deciding the capacity, vendor shall take into account the actual aerated/ fluidized bulk
density. Sizing shall be based on maximum capacity and minimum bulk density to be
handled.
3.10 Rotary valve bearings shall be mounted externally and shall be sealed to avoid any contact
of lubricants with the process material. Only antifriction bearings shall be used.
3.11 The drive shall consist of a motor with primary reduction unit and secondary chain reducer
if required. The chain reduction unit shall be completely covered and lubricated. The drive

frame may be supported on the rotary valve body. Chain guard shall be of non sparking
material for hazardous area application.
3.12 Drive motor shall be selected for starting the rotary feeder in fully loaded condition.
3.13 A suitable size vent nozzle shall be provided to release the air/gas.
3.14 Zero speed (no motion) switch shall be provided with each rotary valve.
4.1 Equipment shall be subjected to stagewise expediting, inspection and testing at vendor's/
sub-vendor's works by Purchaser/its authorised inspection agency. Vendor shall submit
Quality Assurance (QA) plans before commencement of fabrication. Approved QA plans
shall form basis for equipment inspection.
4.2 Testing at Works
4.2.1 Vendor shall perform tests and inspection necessary to ensure that the material and
workmanship conform to the requirement of this specification.
4.2.2 Inspection and testing at vendor's works shall include but not limited to the following:
i) Dimensional checkup
ii) Material test reports of materials, castings, forgings etc.
iii) No load and leakage test of Rotary Valve.
Any or all the tests, at Purchaser's option, shall be witnessed by Purchaser/its authorised
inspection agency. However, such inspection shall be regarded as check-up and shall in no
way absolve the vendor of his responsibility.
4.4 Performance Testing and Guarantees
4.4.1 A field performance test shall be conducted by the vendor to demonstrate the guaranteed
performance after commissioning in accordance with test procedure to be prepared as per
EIL Std. No. 7-76-0103.
The procedure of performance testing shall be submitted for Purchaser's review and shall be
mutually agreed between the Purchaser and the vendor.
4.4.2 Capacity of feeder shall be guaranteed and demonstrated during the performance testing at
site
4.4.3 All parts of the rotary valve shall operate satisfactorily with no undue friction, vibration,
noise or display of any other unfavourable characteristics during the performance test.
4.4.4 All equipment and component parts shall be guaranteed by the vendor against defective
material and design for a period as specified in Purchaser's general purchase conditions.
4.4.5 If any defect occurs during the guaranteed period the Vendor shall make all necessary
alterations, repairs and replacement at their own cost.
4.4.6 Necessary instruments for the performance testing shall be arranged by the vendor, and shall
be tested and calibrated before undertaking the performance test.

corrosive industrial environment, unless otherwise specified elsewhere in the Material/
Purchase Requisition.

1.0 GENERAL
This specification outlines the minimum requirements for the design, manufacture, test and
supply of the screw conveyor and its accessories suitable for transporting loose, free-flowing
materials and also for mixing and blending operations in various industrial plants as specified
herein-after.
2.1 This standard is based on the following Indian/international Standards, and the standards
referred therein, which shall be deemed to be part of this standard:

practices and norms of the industry shall be applicable.
Technical requirements of Screw Conveyor shall be as per Codes and Standards referred in
Clause 2.1 above. Screw Conveyor drive power calculation shall be based on ISO - 7119.
However, following additional requirements to above Standards shall be considered.
i) Screw conveyors shall be suitable for continuous duty at full load conditions. Also
conveyors shall be able to start in fully loaded condition.
ii) The speed of the screw conveyor shall depend on the capacity, characteristics of load
to be conveyed and diameter of screw. CEMA - 350 shall be followed for selection /
sizing of screw conveyors.
iii) Conveyor screw flight shall be made from steel plate normally (stamped at individual
pieces in case of sectional flight) formed into a helix, welded to the pipe or shaft and
butt welded together. The pipe carefully selected for adequate torsional strength and
resistance to excessive deflection, shall have internal collars at each end. These collars
shall be permanently inserted and shall have appropriate inside diameters to accept
couplings, driving shafts or end-shafts.
iv) The screw shall be made in maximum 6 m sections, fastened to each other so that the
removal and replacement is possible without disturbing the other sections.
v) The screw shall have smooth flight surface in order to reduce friction and power
consumption.
vi) For special applications, requiring resistance to corrosion and/or involving moderate
to extreme heat, stainless steel screws shall be used.
vii) Screw conveyor trough or U trough shall be fabricated from steel plate, angle or
stainless steel plate depending on the application, with suitable stiffeners.
viii) The troughs shall be jacketed type if required for cooling or heating the conveyed
material. Jacketed troughs shall be designed, constructed and tested in accordance
with ASME code, Section VIII, Div 1 and section IX.
ix) The trough length shall be single or in parts connected together by leak-proof flanged
connections, to obtain the required length. Trough and cover shall be quick opening
type, if specified in the data sheet.
x) The trough shall be supported on saddles. In case the trough is made of different sec-
tions, then the supports shall be provided for each section which allows removal of the
trough sections or screw without disturbing trough alignment.
xi) Trough end seals shall be used for protection for or against the material being handled.
xii) Intermediate discharge spouts, if required, shall be provided with suitable gate.
xiii) Cover
a) The covers shall be clamped or bolted to the trough flanges.
b) For leak-proof covers, the connection between cover and trough shall be with
gaskets.
c) The cover shall be removable type for inspection of full screw and shall be
provided with necessary dust-tight, easily openable inspection doors at
approximately 2 m spacing.
d) Cover shall have joints located at the hangers. Any intermediate joint, if required,
shall be provided with suitable bolted cover strip with gasket.
xiv) Hanger
a) Number of hangers shall be minimised by selecting larger diameter shaft as far as
feasible.
b) The design of hanger shall permit free passage of material.
c) Hangers shall be fixed or sliding type, hung from top of the trough and shall house
the intermediate bearings.
d) Hanger frame shall be made of rigid steel fabricated construction housing to
accommodate bearing.
e) The mounting holes shall be slotted to facilitate assembly and alignment.
0 Location of hanger shall be away from feed chute.
xv) Bearing
a) Bearings shall be bronze or babbitted or teflon bushing or antifriction type.
b) The intermediate bearings shall be split type to facilitate assembly.
c) All the bearing shall be properly sealed.
d) Discharge end bearings shall be thrust bearing to take up axial force so that shaft
and couplings are in tension.
e) The intermediate bearing width shall be short so as to have small gap of screw
flight to accommodate it.
f) Bearing shall have Lio life of minimum 40000 hrs.
xvi) Drive
a) Solid shaft shall be used at all bearing locations.
b) The drive of conveyor shall be through reduction gear/sprocket and chain or V-
be It.
c) Service factor shall be minimum 1.5 for drive.
d) The drive shall be usually installed on the discharge end of the conveyor.
xvii) Coupling
a) Shaft couplings shall be required for connecting adjoining lengths of conveyor
screws. The bare portion of the shaft coupling shall be used as a shaft for the
hanger.
b) Close tolerances on diameter and jig drilled bolt holes shall ensure
interchangability and ease of assembly.
xviii) Hazardous Area Requirement
a) Any mechanism where two non-lubricated parts are likely to rub against each
other, one of them shall be of nonferrous material like Aluminium Bronze / High
Tensile Brass or Stainless Steel.
b) All electrical components/equipments shall meet the requirements of respective
area classification.
c) Coupling guards shall be non-sparking type.
4.4.4 All equipment and component parts shall be guaranteed by the vendor against defective
material and design for a period as specified in Purchaser's general purchase conditions.
4.4.5 If any defect occurs during the guaranteed period the Vendor shall make all necessary
alterations, repairs and replacement at their own cost.
4.4.6 Necessary instruments for the performance testing shall be arranged by the vendor, and shall
be tested and calibrated before undertaking the performance test.
5.1 Surface preparation and painting shall be as per vendor's standard suitable for highly
corrosive industrial environment, unless otherwise specified elsewhere in the
Material/Purchase Requisition.
5.2 Stainless steel surfaces, both inside and outside, shall be pickled and passivated.
5.3 Machined and bearing surfaces shall be protected with varnish or thick coat of grease.
6.1 All packaging shall be done in such a manner as to reduce the volume. The equipment may
be dismantled into major components, suitable for shipment and shall be properly packed to
provide adequate protection during shipment. All assemblies shall be properly match
marked for site erection.
6.2 Attachments, spare parts of the equipment and small items shall be packed separately in
wooden-cases. Each item shall be appropriately tagged with identification of main
equipment, item denomination and reference number of the respective assembly drawing.
6.3 Detailed packing list in water-proof envelope shall be inserted in the package together with
equipment.
6.4 Each equipment shall have an identification plate giving salient equipment data, make, year
of manufacture, equipment number, name of manufacturer etc.
6.5 Vendor shall furnish procedure for prolonged storage of supplied equipment/ material at site.
7.1 Vendor shall submit list of spare parts with recommended quantities and itemised prices for
first two years of operation of the equipment. Proper coding and referencing of spare parts
shall be done so that later identification with appropriate equipment is facilitated.
7.2 Recommended spares and their quantities should take into account related factors of
equipment reliability, effect of equipment downtime upon production or safety, cost of parts
and availability of vendor's service facilities around the proposed location of equipment.
7.3 Vendor shall also submit a list of commissioning spares with quantities. The commissioning
spares shall be sufficient for trouble free commissioning of the system at site. Any
commissioning spares required during commissioning, over and above, the commissioning
spares supplied, shall be made available by the vendor without any cost and time implication
to purchaser. If for any reason, during commissioning, vendor needs to utilise spares from 2
years' operation spares, the same shall be replenished by vendor within a reasonable time
without any cost implication to purchaser.

GENERAL NOTES
1.0 CONTRACTOR shall necessarily procure all the material / equipment forming
permanent part of the unit / plant from OWNER / EIL approved vendors only. This
shall include sub-ordered items / components also. The “Approved Vendors” shall be
item specific.
2.0 OWNER / EIL approved vendor list for the various items is enclosed in this section.
3.0 CONTRACTOR may procure material from any of OWNER / EIL approved vendors.
However, current validity, holiday status and range of approval as per EIL enlistment
letter, workload, stability and solvency need to be verified by the CONTRACTOR with
vendor before placement of order. CONTRACTOR is also required to ensure that
equipment qualification criteria, specified elsewhere in the bid document, are also
simultaneously met.
4.0 Vendors on OWNER / EIL holiday list shall not be considered for ordering.
CONTRACTOR shall comply with this requirement without any time or cost
implication to the OWNER. If a vendor is put on OWNER / EIL’s holiday list
subsequent to CONTRACTOR placing an order, it shall be CONTRACTOR’s
responsibility to ensure quality work and timely supply from the vendor.
5.0 For items not covered in the above list, the CONTRACTOR shall approach OWNER /
EIL for that list or the vendors list shall be approved by OWNER / EIL prior to
placement or order by CONTRACTOR. CONTRACTOR shall list down the proposed
suppliers / vendors for such items and submit the same for OWNER / EIL’s review /
approval along with necessary documents / credentials. “Approval status” documents
/ credentials to be furnished by the vendors in such cases shall solely be the
responsibility of the CONTRACTOR. OWNER / EIL’s decision on above shall be final
and non-negotiable. Acceptance or non-acceptance of a particular proposed vendor
due to any reasons whatsoever shall not be a cause of schedule and cost implication.
7.0 At any stage of the project, if it comes to the notice of OWNER / EIL that
CONTRACTOR has procured material / equipment, intentionally or unintentionally
whatsoever, from an unapproved vendor and / or items not falling in approved range
of vendor(s), the same shall be rejected fort with and CONTRACTOR shall be liable
to replace such material / plant / machinery without any schedule and cost implication
to the OWNER.
8.0 List of vendors appearing anywhere else in the contract document in case of
duplication of the items at two or more places shall not be considered by
CONTRACTOR and shall be superseded by the vendor list enclosed herewith. And if
in this vendor list also, items seems to be duplicated / repeated then CONTRACTOR
shall get clarified the issue by OWNER / EIL before proceeding ahead for
procurement activity.
9.0 It is understood that should the name of vendor be changed due to change in their
company or corporate shareholding. OWNER may accept such vendors under its
new name with prior approval.

Any such approval shall however, not absolve the CONTRACTOR from any of his
obligations under the contract; neither shall any such approval signify nominations or
instruction to use such a vendor. All approved vendors are deemed to have been
freely chosen by the CONTRACTOR at his own risk.
Any additional vendors if Proposed by bidders for any item(s), the makes/Sub vendor
of same shall have sufficient Proven Track Record (PTR) and shall be subject to
Client/EIL approval during details engineering without any time and price
implidation to owner

1.0 INTRODUCTION
Assam Bio Refinery Pvt. Ltd.(ABRPL) plans to set up a bio-refinery at Numaligarh for
production of fuel grade Ethanol from Bamboo. Assam Bio refinery Pvt Ltd is a joint venture
company promoted by M/s Fortum 3 B.V , M/s Chempolis Oy, Finland and Numaligarh
Refinery Ltd (NRL).
Engineers India Limited (EIL) has been retained by ABRPL to provide EPCM services for Bio
Refinery Project. This document presented here intends to provide the utility data for Raw
Bamboo Handling package of Bio Refinery project of ABRPL in Numaligarh, Assam.

Utility pressure and temperature levels, as made available at battery limits of vendor package,
as indicated.
Utility conditions at vednor’s B/L (All B/L pressures are as measured at grade)
Notes:
1. Service water shall be brought from existing NRL refinery to the Bamboo Handling
package, hence these will be available at min pressure condition only to the Bamboo
Handling section.
2. Plant air & Instrument air shall be normally taken from CHP plant however If plant air &
instrument air are not available from CHP plant in such scenario these utilities (i.e. IA &
PA) shall be taken from NRL existing refinery and in that case these shall be available at
minimum pressure condition only as specified above.
