Task 1: 6/6

The given diagram demonstrates the main stages which take place in the recycling of storm water in
an Australia city.

Overall, there are five main steps in the process from collecting rain to delivering treated water to
households.

The process starts when there is a rain. The rainwater flows into drains, through a long pipes under
the ground to where it is filtered by water recycling plant. In the next step, rainwater is filtered four
times at all. Plastic and rubbish are removed at the first filter layer and smaller particles are blocked at
the second one. Then, the last two layers are responsible for the removal of bacteria, viruses as well
as molecules and salt. After which chlorine is added into treated water at 4mg/l for another
treatment. In the last step, clear water is transferred through pipes to a large storage tank before
being used for households.
