Department of Civil
Engineering
About the Department

The significance of construction projects in relation to sustainable development has

been on a constant rise, creating a high demand for civil engineering experts. The
Faculty of Engineering offers graduate & Post graduate programs in Civil Engineering
and seeks to impart to the students the knowledge and competencies related to
construction and building structures. The Department of Civil Engineering is equipped
with a league of expert faculties and resource persons from renowned IITs and
NITs, who endeavour to provide the students with a comprehensive theoretical and
practical understanding of Engineering. The program is approved, thus guaranteeing
students of the most enriching quality learning experience.

As a way of developing the practical skills of the students, the department is also
equipped with laboratories and research centres which focus on various domains of Civil
Engineering such as Structural Engineering, Earthquake Engineering, Transportation
Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, Environmental Engineering
and Concrete Technology. Beyond the scope of the academics, the department also
seeks to develop the career competencies of the students, making them industry
ready, during the course of the academics.

CONSTRUCTION
As the world continues to prioritise sustainable

for architects, builders, and homeowners alike.
With ongoing research and innovation, bamboo’s
role in modern construction is likely to expand,
contributing to a greener and more sustainable
built environment. Here are some key points
about bamboo as a building material-

1. Sustainability- Bamboo is highly renewable and

Industry Visit to Kalpataru Power Limited

Date: 15 Apr 2022
Description about the program:

D
r. V. C. Jha led this
insightful visit, offering
unique insights and
connecting theoretical concepts
to practical industrial scenarios.
This was the your chance
to bridge the gap between
academia and industry and

Workshop on Hands-on Learning
with MATLAB Software
Date: 22 Aug 2022
Description about the program:

D
r. V. C. Jha, HOD of the Mechanical
Engineering Department, started the
session and explained the importance of
Matlab software. Matlab software is an effective
tool for problem-solving and debugging easily; it
uses a large database of built-in algorithms. Its
basic data element is the matrix. A simple integer
is considered a matrix of one row and one column.
Several mathematical operations that work on
arrays or matrices are built-in to the Mat lab
environment. Matlab allows matrix manipulations;
plotting functions and data; implementation of
algorithms; creation of user interfaces; interfacing
with programs written in other languages,
including C, C++, Java, and FORTRAN; analysis of
data; developing algorithms; and creating models
and applications.

“Workshop on How to Write a Research Paper”

Date: 16 Sep 2022 Time: 10:00 am onwards
Description about the program:

T
he session had started by the Head
of the Department Dr. V. C. Jha. He
explained how to write a research
paper. Research studies are important
because they contribute to knowledge
and progress on confusion, diseases,
and disorders. The purpose of a research
paper is to give your ideas and opinions
about the topic or problem and to use
other sources to support your position.
Understanding that research is important
might seem like a no-brainer, but many
people avoid it like the plague. Yet, for
those who like to learn, whether they are
members of a research institution or not,
conducting research is not just important
it’s imperative.

What is Brave...?

S
ome will recognise you’re brave, others won’t. Some will understand
and like you, others won’t. But the way others respond to your
confidence is not your business. Your business is to stay loyal to you.
That way you will always know that those who do like and love you are
really your people. You’ll never be forced to hide or act in order to keep
people if you don’t hide or act to get them

The Second Coming

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
MR. NURESH KU. KHUNTE Surely some revelation is at hand;
Assistant Professor Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
Email: nuresh.khunte@ The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
kalingauniversity.ac.in When a vast image out of Spirits Mundi
Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

Life
Life’s beauty shines in every hue,
A canvas painted with skies so blue.
From dawn’s first light to twilight’s grace,
Moments cherished, a precious embrace.
Laughter that echoes like birds in flight,
Dreams that reach for the highest height.
In every heartbeat, a rhythm so sweet,
MR. ARUN KUMAR LAHRE Life’s tapestry woven, memories complete.
