ANNUAL SPORTS DAY CELEBRATION AT PATNA WOMEN’S COLLEGE

Patna Women’s College organized it’s Annual Sports Day event for the year 2023 on 9th
November, 2023 where the students graced the ground by exhibiting a kaleidoscopic tapestry of
various forms of sports, yoga, races, drills, and skills. The greatly awaited event was festooned
by the presence of Mr. Jitendra Kumar Rai — The Minister of Art, Culture & Youth Department,
Government of Bihar & member of Bihar Legislative Assembly as the hon’ble chief guest of the
event and the Guest of Honour — Professor Girish Kumar Chaudhary, the Honorable Vice
Chancellor of Patna University . The sporting extravaganza commenced with lamp lighting,
tailed by a striking match past by various departments of the college encompassing 100 students,
and hoisting of the college flag followed by the beloved college anthem ‘Hey Maanav’ instilling
the sense of pride and showcasing the exuberant discipline. A wide array of sports events and
competitions in which both undergraduate and postgraduate students actively participated in
began shortly after the splendid speech given by the honourable chief guest of the occasion
highlighting the importance of sports and need of sportsmanship qualities in today’s generation.
The first year students stole the limelight by giving the performance involving fusion of dance
and yoga, their theme taking everyone down the lane of history about yoga. The second and third
year students performed demonstration of various forms of martial arts around the world.
Additionally, the students showcased their skill sets by engaging in various competitions ranging
from track and field, 100 metres hurdles, 200,400 and 800 sprint races, three legged races to
indigenous sports like kho-kho and kabaddi. The college band rose as the star of the show by its
groovy beats and motivational tunes bringing together the students, teaching staff and non
teaching staff under the umbrella of sports spirit. The great event was concluded with a prize
distribution ceremony where BA Part I English honours student, Shubha Singh was declared as
the individual athletic champion, with BSC Part III Physics, Aarti Ray as the runner up. The
winners of the March Past were — BA ENGLISH Group C ( 1st Prize ), BMC Group A ( 2nd
Prize) and B.COM Group B ( 3rd Prize). Patna Women’s College Principal Dr. Sister M Rashmi
AC concluded the programme with congratulating the students for their hard work, creativity and
enthusiasm throughout the long period of sports, rewarding the teaching and non teaching staff
for their efforts with her pearl like words, and thanking the honourable chief guest and guest of
honour for their auspicious presence. College Sports-In-Charge Manjula Sushila coordinated the
events.
