1) Team "A" has probability of winning whenever it plays. If "A" plays

"4" games, find the prob. That "A" wins 1) exactly 2 games, 2) at least 1
game 3) more than half of the games

2) A family has 6 children. Find the prob. "P" that there are 1) 3 boys and 3
girls, 2) fewer boys than girls. Assume that the prob. of any particular
child being a boy is ½.

3) Determine the expected number of boys in a family with “8” children,

assuming the sex distribution to be equally probable. What is the prob. that
the expected number of boys does occur?

4) Suppose 300 misprints are distributed randomly through a book of 500

pages
Find the probability “P” that a given page contains a) exactly 2 misprints
b) 2 or more misprints

5) The prob. of a defective bolt being made by a particular machine is

0.002. What is the prob that out of 1000 bolts inspected at random there will
be 1) none defective
2) one defective 3) Find the expected number of defective bolts
and the standard deviation

6) In any given year in a certain colliery the prob of a man being killed is
0.002. What is the prob that this colliery, which employs 1000 men will have
1) a year free of fatal accidents 2) no more than "2" fatal accidents in a
given year

7) The marks of 800 students are normally distributed with mean 66 (out of 100)
and standard deviation 5 mark. Find the number of students with mark:
1).Between 65 and 70 2) greater or equal to 72

8) The temperature ”T” during June is normally distributed with mean 68°F
and standard deviation 6 °F.
.. Find the prob. That the temp is between 70°F and 80°F
.
