INTRODUCTION
The purpose of the introduction of the proposal is to frame the paper for its readers. It should incl
ude but is not limited to the following suggested headings:
✔ a brief description of the topic and the research problem, including any background (both
scholarly and personal) that might be helpful for the general reader to understand the rese
arch project, particularly why it is worth pursuing
✔ a brief definitions of key concepts under study
You may want to restate the general purpose of the study, the population or sample that you will stu
dy, the duration of the study, the specific aspects of the topic the study will focus on and will not f
ocus on), the geographical location covered in the study, etc.
✔ a statement of how the research would contribute to practice and existing literature
Significance of the study refers to the potential importance, relevance, or impact of the research findi
ngs on the practical levels and possibly on theoretical levels. It outlines how the research contributes t
o the different stakeholders involved directly and indirectly in the study and how it may contribute to
the existing body of knowledge, what gaps it fills, or what new understanding it brings to a particular
field of study.
LITERATURE REVIEW
The purpose of reviewing existing information related to the topic is to find what is already know
n about the topic. It should include but is not limited to the following suggested headings:
✔ What is the present state of knowledge regarding the topic under consideration?
✔ What is the present state of knowledge regarding the topic under consideration?
✔ What research gaps are there and how will the proposed study contribute to the existing lit
erature?
METHODOLOGY
The purpose of this section is to outline the research methods used and demonstrate that re
cognized procedures have been followed in the study. There should be an explanation of the reas
on why particular methods were chosen and how the research was conducted. The main parts of t
his section include:
✔ description and justification of the research approach in response to the research aims and
research questions
