The Discipline of Perception | Clarity Week 1: “What’s up to us, what’s not up to us”

Date: Jan 5th, 2023 Today’s Topic: “Clarify Your Intention”

Morning Reflection:

Quote from: Seneca

“Let all your efforts be directed to something, let it keep that end in view. It’s not activity that
disturbs people, but false conceptions of things that drive them mad.”

Notes
Having an end mind is no guarantee that you'll reach it, but not having an end in mind is a guarantee
you won't. How will you know when you've had enough, when you've reached your goal, when
you've gotten off track, if you've never defined what those things are?

Question: “What is my purpose in life?”

 Maybe the abstract answer for this abstract question is to live the fullest of my life. To achieve
that I need to have a healthy condition on physically, mentally, and financially.
 So, my endgames are: To get in shape and be able to carry my own weight (my fitness
definition), able to control my self-response from external disturbances (Stoicism philosophy),
and reach financial freedom from passive income.

The Discipline of Perception | Clarity Week 1: “What’s up to us, what’s not up to us”
Date: Jan 6th, 2023 Today’s Topic: “Where, who, what, and why”
Morning Reflection:

Quote from: Marcus Aurelius

“A person who doesn’t know what the universe is, doesn’t know where they are. A person who
doesn’t know their purpose in life doesn’t know who they are or what the universe is. A person who
doesn’t know any one of these things doesn’t know why they are here. So what to make of people
who seek or avoid the praise of those who have no knowledge of where or who they are?”

Notes
Know yourself

Question: “Who am I? And what do I stand for?”

 As Indonesian, I stand for my country and nation's survival. As Bataknese, I stand for my family
wellness. And as trying to be Stoic person, I stand for the virtues which are wisdom, courageous,
temperance, and justice. The rest of it, I'm trying to stand for what is proper and right at the
time.
