Cause and Effect
Academic Oppression

A quote by Geckoandfly says "Bullies cause depression, Depression causes suicide. Are
you a murderer? " Bullying in schools has become much more common in recent years.
There are several factors to weigh when it comes to school oppression. Based on the data
which was released by Pacer’s National Bullying Prevention Center back in 2019, one out of
every five (20.2%) students report being bullied. Male students are more likely than
female students to be physically bullied (6 percent vs. 4 percent), whereas female students
are more likely than male students to be the target of gossip (18 percent vs. 9 percent) and
to be purposefully omitted from activities (7 percent vs. 4 percent). 13% of bullying
students were made fun of, called names, or insulted; 13% were the subject of rumors; 5%
were pulled, shoved, tripped, or spat on; and 5 percent were purposefully omitted from
sports. These ratings keep increasing as time passes by. Is what we're doing enough to put
a stop to this kind of violence?

School oppression can manifest itself in a variety of ways. This may be accomplished
by the use of spoken words, physical aggression, thoughts, or the internet. However, how
is bullying defined? Well, bullying or oppression is described as a deliberate act of
physically or emotionally injuring, harming, or humiliating a student. It may occur at
school, in the community, or online. There is no particular reason why oppression
happens. It may come in several facets.

One of those facets may be expressing their anger and frustration over an issue they
are having. Problems at home, as well as difficulties at school, are examples. The more
they bully, the less they can be sensitive. The weak their victims are, the more they are
vulnerable to bullying activities. The offensive behavior they possess is influenced by the
violent movies or video games they are spending their time with. Some are oppressing
others because of their life status or appearance. Others find themselves in positions and
oppress those who are underneath them.

Growing environment as well as childhood experiences are factors we can not remove
from the blocks. These two factors play an important role in the growth of the person. At
times, these will determine how the child will act in the future. Bullies typically have
insecurities and a lack of self-control which triggers them to be aggressive. Anyone can
bully and everyone can be bullied. How cruel can a human be?

Bullying isn’t about resolving conflict; bullying is about control. Bullying is a very
serious problem everyone must put their eyes on. It has numerous effects which should be
taken seriously, such as, Academic oppression has a significant impact on students' ability
to learn, as well as their everyday life. In addition to this, it can also lower the self-esteem
of the victim, which may result in insecurities, anxiety, depression and then self-harm.

Due to the high rates of bullying and its harmful effects, some kind-hearted
organizations improvised the program "Bullying prevention" to at least lessen its case.
The Pacer's National Bullying Prevention Center has launched a bullying prevention
program with the goal of educating and inspiring a nation to take action to create a safe
and supportive environment for school-aged youth. It also provides information to
support and educate students. There are also websites that impart knowledge to their
readers, particularly publications that tackle action plans against academic oppression. All
students should be treated with kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. Take action!
With the belief that everyone must be treated fairly and according to what they
deserve, everyone should observe each other’s actions. be wise enough to see the two
sides of the situation. Hundreds and hundreds of children and teens had already seen how
oppression could take the life of an innocent person. They had experienced what it is like
to be physically and mentally tortured. Worse, it can lead to suicide, by visualizing how
deep the emptiness the family will go through if one of their nearest and dearest
committed self-annihilation is unimaginable. Life is indeed precious yet short. Let’s not
end each other's lives, instead give them a good perspective and a good reason to live. One
of my beliefs is that a day will come when people can truly understand each other. "To
know what is right and choose to ignore it, is the act of a coward." (Kakashi, Naruto) Always
keep in mind that judging others based on your own preconceptions and appearances is
not a good idea.
