Sip recommendations

The purpose of this research is to identify the most efficient method for removing rust.

– The group recommends to lengthen the time of scrubbing the metal sample from 1 minute to
5 minutes to effectively remove the rust. Rust can be stubborn and firmly attached to the
metal, so brushing for a longer period of time can be necessary to achieve optimal results.

– In case of heavy rust on the metal sample, increase the amount of baking soda added. Adding
more baking soda increases the alkalinity of the solution, which enhances its rust removal
properties. However, it's important to be cautious not to add too much baking soda, as this
can also damage the metal being cleaned or cause discoloration.

– Improve the equipment by opting for a larger brush and utilizing separate bowls for lemon
juice and vinegar is recommended. Using a big brush for scrubbing rust can be beneficial
because it can cover a larger surface area at once, making the cleaning process more
efficient. A bigger brush also typically has longer bristles that can penetrate deeper into
crevices where rust may accumulate, making it easier to remove. Using different bowls for
lemon juice and vinegar when cleaning rust can be important because they are two different
solutions with unique properties that work in different ways to remove rust.

– Use fresh lemons and potatoes to remove rust more effectively. When used fresh, they
contain a higher concentration of citric acid and oxalic acid, which helps to break down the
rust and make it easier to remove. Over time, the concentration of acid in fruits and
vegetables can decrease, which may make them less effective for rust removal.

– Metal specimens should ideally have the same weight and size when conducting an
experiment to ensure that the variables being tested are isolated and accurately measured. If
the specimens have different weights or sizes, it can introduce additional variables that can
impact the results and make it difficult to draw valid conclusions from the experiment.
