 The wires of a single circuit must be tied with plastic cable ties inside a panel distribution
so that it is easy to identify and track.

 Adherence to
the wire colors for each phase, neutral and ground line, and not reversing the phase
sequence arrangement.
 Grounding the distribution panel have to be taken into account, the door and other places
carrying current. It's forbidden to connect the neutral line to the ground in the panel.

 Electrical circuits must be numbered and named (Identification), where the name of the
circuit is placed or label the wires and cables at the beginning and end of the circuit using
one of the following accessories, for example (Ferrules, Labels, Marker...etc).

 Tags of feeder cables to identify cable or circuit number and conductor size in accordance
with the schedules.
 An additional number of spare branch breakers, at a rate of 10-20% of the total number
of breakers must be installed according to GEIRB (R-3) page No. 96.
 All exterior and interior steel surfaces of the Panel Boards will be properly cleaned after
completion of work and all rubbish, dust will be removed from inside and around the Panel
Boards by using brushers, vacuum cleaner etc…. .
 Specifications of the connector connected to the electricity company’s meter panel
according to GEIRB (R-3) page No. 44:

a) The pipe size shall not be less than 3 inches.

b) The pipe thickness should be 3 mm.
c) The pipe color should be gray.
d) The height of the pipe from the meter to the
floor should not be less than 1 meter.
e) The pipe contains a section buried underground
at least 20 cm deep.

7.7 Earth & Protection (out of scope)

 For commonly used materials, the common minimum sizes from the point of view of
corrosion and mechanical strength for earth electrodes where embedded in the soil are
given in SBC 401: Section 54-2.2.1 table 54-1 and table 54-2.
 Aluminum conductors are forbidden to be used as grounding conductors.
 The grounding system inside the house (after the meter) must be of the TN-S type. This
means that it is strictly forbidden that the neutral conductor be connected to the ground
conductor after the main distribution board, as The neutral and ground electrodes must be
separated in the main building panel and no connection must be made between them (No
jumper). They are separate until the end of the electrical circuit according to GEIRB (R-3)
page 61.
 You must ensure that the distribution panel, the door, and all metal parts that carry
current are grounded.
 The neutral line shall be not connected to the ground in the panel
 It must be ensured that the grounding probe in the main distribution panel is connected to
the main grounding electrode in the grounding manhole.

7.8 Main Feeder

 All wires have to be distinguished by color according to SBC 401, Table 51-2.

 Each circuit shall be provided with a nameplate, which shall be legibly and indelibly
marked with the information required.
 For cable termination and glanding, the following steps clarify how to do:

7.9 Testing

 On completion of the installation and prior to its being made “Alive” for service, all the
electrical test will carried out all sections of the works in the presence of the Consultants’
and all the tests will be carried out in compliance with SBC 401: section 6-1 regulations
and the contract specifications. All the test reports will be submitted to the Consultants’
along with the As-built drawings and Operation and Maintenance documents.
 The test includes the following:-

 Continuity of conductors test for :

a) Protective conductors, including main and supplementary.
b) In case of ring final circuits, live conductors.
 Insulation resistance of the electrical installation between live conductors and the protective
conductor connected to the earth. For the purpose of this test live conductors may be connect
together, table 61-1 in SBC401 showing the measured resistance as follow:

 Protection by automatic disconnection of the supply.

8. Quality inspection role within the construction process

 The contractor shall submit ITPs based on the scope of work and design standards of the
projects, for approval. The ITPs shall set out the sequence of construction activities for
inspection, examination, and testing, and include the type and level of inspection such as
hold, witness and review points for the contractor and the client.

 The contractor shall submit a Bi-Weekly Construction Look Ahead schedule to the project
management to enable the site supervision consultant to plan their weekly activities
accordingly.
 The site supervision consultants shall validate construction activities through Work
Inspection Requests via PMIS.
 The site supervision consultants or the contractor’s quality control team are the entities
who normally notify the nonconformities to the construction contractor through Site
Observation Notice or Nonconformance Report (NCR) along.
 Approved laboratories must be engaged for testing materials and calibrating equipment
used for measuring and testing.
 Construction activities are normally evaluated and validated through:
o Work Inspection Requests.
o Material Inspection Requests.
o Periodical First Party and/or Second Party Audits.
o Inspection and Test Results.
o Quality Assurance and Quality Control Records and Results.
o Corrected Nonconformances.
o Periodical Assessments of ETSD/PMC.
