1. INTRODUCTION
Motion Traffic Engineers was commissioned by MR AHMAD FRANK to prepare a car
parking certification report of the proposed residential development at 1 Montrose Avenue
in Merrylands.

Vehicle access and egress to the parking areas are via Montrose Avenue. The car park is
provided on one basement level.

Reference is made to AS2890.1(2004), AS2890.6 (2009), and Council’s Development


Control Plan for compliance.

2. DRIVEWAY/RAMP
The details of the driveway/ramp from Montrose Avenue into the basement level parking
area are as follows from the perspective of the inbound movement for descriptive purposes
only:
• The width of the driveway is 3 metres at the property line and reduces to 4.5 metres
• The details of the ramp gradients are as follows:
o 12.5 percent for 2 metres
o 25 percent for 3.08 metres
o 12.5 percent for 2 metres

3. CAR SPACES
The details of the car parking areas are as follows:

• The car parking aisle is 6 metres wide


• One car space is 3.2 metres wide and 5.4 metres long
• The other car space is 4.3 metres wide and 5.5 metres long
• A turning bay is provided
• The column setback complies taking into account the width of the car spaces are
wider than the minimum requirement of 2.4 metres and an additional 300mm
against a wall

4. SWEPT PATHS
Swept paths using 4.9 metres long B85 car as stated in the Australian Standards to confirm
that vehicle movements are adequate.

The swept paths are provided in the Appendix A of this report and show adequate
manoeuvrability.

5. CAR SIGHT DISTANCE


The car driver’s sight distance requirement to enter the external road is stated in Figure 3.2
of AS2890.1.

The sight distance varies according to the speed of the external road. Montrose Avenue
has a speed limit of 50km/hr.

The minimum sight distance required is 45 metres. The minimum vehicle sight distance is
met.

The pedestrian sight distance triangle as set out in Figure 3.3 is met as well with convex
safety mirrors.

6. CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS


The car parking area and driveway is compliant with Australian Standards and Council’s
DCP.
