Cancer research

Cancer research is critical because the better we understand these diseases, the more progress
we will make toward reducing cancer's enormous human and economic costs. We now have a
good understanding of the biological processes involved in cancer onset, growth, and spread in
the body thanks to research. These breakthroughs have resulted in more effective, targeted
treatments and prevention strategies. Breakthroughs in prevention, early detection, screening,
diagnosis, and treatment are frequently the result of decades or even generations of research
and discovery by scientists from various disciplines. To translate yesterday's discoveries into
today's advances and tomorrow's cures, cancer research ultimately requires partnerships and
collaborations involving researchers, clinicians, patients, and others.
