Research & Development
The technology research institute of KTE was established in 1993, to mainly focus on
developing and enhancing ship automation systems by creating unmanned operating
systems that makes the ships able to voyage by themselves automatically with the best
control and network technology.

The institute accomplished not only to develop the marine automated system such as
alarm monitoring & control system, reefer container monitoring system, power
management system, side thruster control system, navigation light control system, purifier
control system, etc. but also to carry out developing various products different fields such
as surveillance system for railway vehicles, corrosion monitoring system for gas line.

As a result, KTE was decorated with a Silver Tower Order of Industry from korean
government in 1995, then, awarded KT Mark from the Ministry of Science and
Technology, becoming an authorized factory of Korean New Technology in 1997.
Furthermore, KTE was designated as a Factory of Vision 21 in 1997, followed by a
Company of Technological Competitiveness in 1999 by the government.

Towards the ultimate goal of creating unmanned operating systems via networking, KTE
propels its R&D activities to combine and converge a variety of technologies.
