Phlebotomy Materials
Cotton: Sterile cotton is used to apply pressure to the puncture site
after blood collection to stop bleeding. It's also utilized for cleaning
the area to reduce the risk of infection.

Cotton container: A sterile container designed to hold and dispense


sterile cotton for wound cleaning and dressing after blood
collection or other medical procedures.

Lancet: A small, disposable tool equipped with a sharp needle used


to prick the skin for obtaining a small blood sample, often for
glucose monitoring or other diagnostic tests.

Lancing device: A mechanism, usually spring-loaded or manually


operated, employed in conjunction with lancets to puncture the
skin for blood collection, especially in diabetic patients for self-
monitoring blood glucose levels.

PPE: Personal Protective Equipment refers to


specialized gear worn by healthcare professionals
during phlebotomy and various medical procedures to
minimize exposure to infectious agents or potentially
hazardous materials.
