Sampling plan
• A sampling plan is a term widely used research studies that provide
an outline on the basis of which research is conducted.

Sample Design
• Sample Design is a definite plan for obtaining a sample from a given
population
• Important part of research design
• Technique or procedure the resacher adopt for selecting sample
Characteristics of Sample Design
• Should not cause more error
• Able to control systematic bias effectively
• Outcome of good sample Design must be truly repesentive

Steps in sampling Design:

1. Define the population
2. State the sampling frame
3. Identify the sampling unit
4. State sampling method
5. Determine the sample size
6. Spell out the sampling plan
7. Select the sample
1.Define the population:
The universe can be finite or infinite Infinite universe the numbe of items is
limited. In the case of infinite universe the number of items is infinite

2.State the Sampling frame:

It is the source list from which samples are to be drawn. It contains the
names of all items of the universe It is the means of representing the
elements of the population.

3.Identify the sampling unit:

Sampling unit may be geographical one or a construction of unit

4. State sampling methods:

It includes probability sampling methods, non probability sampling methods
5. Determine the sample size
The sample size should not be large or small .

6. Spell out the sampling plan

The researcher should state the operational procedures for selection
of the sample

7. Select the sample

Last step. The needed samples are to be selected
